When his fingers slowed their movements, Sadie felt like a melted puddle under an ice cream cone. Her eyes closed, she relied on him to take care of her. Rocco rewarded her with a kiss on that spot at the crook of her neck as he released her zipper completely, allowing the material to drop to the floor.

“So beautiful, Little one. These panties make me smile.”

She peeked under her lashes to see him drawing along the edges of her chocolate chip cookie underwear. “I have a bit of a cookie obsession,” she whispered.

“Penguins and cookies,” he said with a smile. “Time to get into bed. Playtime is over.”

Rocco drew her panties down over her thighs and helped her step out of the pile of garments. “Are your PJs under your pillow, Cookie?” he asked with a wink.

She nodded and followed him to the bed. He threw her clothes into the hamper she had by the closet. Sadie smiled. Her Daddy wouldn’t ever leave a mess on the floor.

Her Daddy. She repeated that over and over in her mind as he helped her into the soft night garments and guided her into bed. Sadie pulled Edgar close and hugged him tightly as Rocco tucked the covers around her. Her body still buzzed with pleasure from her orgasm. Closing her eyes when he leaned over to kiss her forehead, Sadie wiggled into the most comfortable position.

Her Daddy began to read in his deep voice, and she couldn’t keep the corners of her lips from curving up in a smile. If only she could go to sleep like this every night. Maybe she should move into his extra room.

Chapter Thirteen

After pulling on her favorite sundress, Sadie rode the elevator downstairs to her usual position at the front desk. After starting her computer, she opened the front door and allowed all the workers inside. In just the first few days, Sadie had established a procedure for them to sign in at the desk and show her their badges. This morning, she recognized most, but a few new companies were reporting for duty. Unfortunately, two arrived at the same time, and their projects were based on opposite sides of the resort.

To Sadie’s delight, Caesar arrived at the desk just as she was trying to figure out what to do. “Hi! I’m glad to see you.”

Caesar turned to look behind him before glancing back at her. “Me?”

“Yes. These guys are here to look at the stability of the dock. Could you show them where everything is and answer their questions?” Sadie asked, grinning at the immense man.

Caesar turned to the workmen. “I was on my way down there. I’d love to show you a few things I’m concerned about,” he answered, looking at the man in charge.

“I’ve been told only to listen to her,” the dock guy answered as he pointed to Sadie.

Sadie’s eyebrows rose. “Caesar is my delegate. What he says is what I agree must be done unless he wants to goldplate the dock. Then double-check with me,” Sadie joked, lending her support to the man chosen to head up watersports at the resort.

“No gold-plating. It will blind us coming into shore,” Caesar said with a laugh. “Let me show you the way.”

Satisfied that he would be working with someone with the power to make decisions, the boss and his workmen followed the scuba expert outside.

Sadie turned to the other man standing at the reception desk. “Okay, now remind me of what you need. Something about the helicopter pad?”

“Yes. I’ve been sent to address the stability of the pad. It was reported to be three degrees off level. That’s dangerous,” the man answered her.

“Three degrees would make that much difference?” Sadie asked.

“You must not be a pilot, ma’am. Could you show me to the pad so I can take some measurements?”

Something just didn’t seem right. That warning voice in the back of her head screamed at her. What was it about this guy that set her radar off? Sadie controlled her expression as she nodded to the stranger. “Of course. Let me call someone to the desk to take my spot so I can show you where it is.”

Lifting the house phone, she called Rocco’s number.

“Hey, Little girl. You looked so cute sleeping last night.”

“Hi, Mr. Thompson. Could you come to the desk to relieve me? There’s a workman here that needs to assess the helicopter pad. He says it’s been reported to be three degrees off level.”

“Three degrees off level. What’s that nonsense? Helicopters are made to land on uneven grassy areas,” Rocco said, laughing. “And why are you calling me Mr. Thompson, Cookie?”

“I know, sir. It is concerning. Will you be able to assist me at the desk?” Sadie asked, hoping Rocco would get the message that she was spooked.

“On my way. I’ll bring Kestrel with me. He’ll be concerned about this jerk as well.”
