“I don’t need to know how you got all that footage, and thank you for your discretion, the last thing I need is Raven finding out that her mother taped us.” He looks up at me, his blue eyes telling me he knows exactly where I got it. I can say a lot of things about Jett Powers, but stupid he’s not.

“Least I could do.”

“Here’s what I know.” He leans back. “Rachel, drugged herself, and I’m gonna put that cunt away forever.”

“She’s the stalker, I know it. Not sure what she thought she was going to gain from it, but I know it’s not Mike Zane,” I state as he nods.

“She’s a bitch. Maybe she did it for control? Or she’s just that fucking sick and gets off on scaring Courtney and wanted you gone.” I look away, feeling my teeth grind, because the thought of someone scaring her makes me violent.

“Look, man, I was engaged to Rachel. I know what she’s capable of. If we are going to take her down, I need you to not lose it and do something stupid.” His calm, calculating voice settles me as I stand and look out my window because I can’t stop thinking about her, my need to protect Courtney apparently trumps my anger at her questioning me. To be honest, if I had grown up like her, been fucked over the way she had, I’d have done the same thing.

That still doesn’t mean I’m over it.

“Something funny?” Jett interrupts my thoughts.

“Just thinking about Courtney.” I shake my head and down the whiskey, moving to bring the entire bottle over.

“I heard ‘Tricky Love’ twice driving over here.” Jett motions for me to tap him off with the whiskey.

“Yeah?” I arch a brow at him.

“She puts it all out there.” He grins, my eyes narrow on his because he can’t possibly be thinking about giving me relationship advice.

Court sent it to me a couple days ago. Actually, Malcolm did since my old phone is still missing.

I’m still pissed and haven’t listened to it. That being said, I knew she’d release it, if only to get a response.

Goddamn it.

“Hold on.” I grab my new phone, the more I think about this, I’m certain that Rachel stole my old cell that night she snuck back in my house.

Christ, if Jett is right, and she had rough sex with someone, then drugged herself? So she could then pass out in her car…that’s some sick, twisted brain she’s got on her.

Whatever, my phone is useless to her, all the information and videos that Frosty had sent were on the burner phone. I guess she could have been a creeper and spied on mine and Courtney’s messages, but other than some lyrics for songs, there was nothing I needed on it.

I did have Frosty track it, though. Apparently, you would need to either be an expert or hire one to even be able to unlock it. I guess she could have removed the SIM card. I was kind of hoping she would actually be that sloppy and desperate, then Frosty could track it, but as of yet, the phone is off the grid.

“I’ll text Malcolm, ask him what Courtney is doing with Rachel,” I say, not looking at Jett because I don’t need to see him to feel his vibe of judgment, or maybe it’s even pity…whatever it is, I don’t want it.

Again, I take a breath, maybe I’m just being overly protective of anything to do with Courtney. Jett’s now my lawyer and we are just here to deal with Rachel.

“You want my opinion?”

Nope, not being sensitive, he’s judging me.

“Fuck no,” I hiss, reading Malcolm’s text.

MAL: Rachel has been fired, two hours ago. Courtney doesn’t want to press charges as long as she goes away.

“Goddamn it.” I look at Jett, who just raises a dark brow.

“Courtney fired Rachel today, but doesn’t want to press charges for embezzling the money.” I look up at the ceiling because what the hell?

“No. Courtney has to press charges now. Rachel is either going to flee, or she’s filing charges against you as we speak.” Jett stands, his voice calm, but his eyes have turned dark. The entire energy in the room is agitated.

“Rachel has to have someone working for her, she would never be able to do all this alone.” He starts to pace. “She preys on the weak. It has to be someone close to Courtney, a person no one would ever consider.” He looks at me, and it’s like a lightbulb has exploded in my head…how did I not see this?

“What?” he demands.

“Let me get Nuke, I know who it is.”

AMMO

“Iain, just take Raven over to Brett and Alex’s and stay over there until I call,” Jett barks into the phone as Nuke raises a dark brow at me.
