“Take it easy.” Ammo laughs at what must be terror in my eyes as he casually tucks his cock back in his jeans and zips up.

“Ammo?” I mouth because I guess I can’t talk anymore as I cover my lips, then stop, not wanting to mess up my makeup any more than I’m sure it is.

“Ammo” My voice cracking as my eyes widen, and I clear my throat, “Tell them, I can’t go on, please.” I look around the room because we can’t open the door.

“I can’t.” This time I’m able to push out the words as I shake my hands, needing to get the blood flowing in them as if that’s going to somehow fix the fact that Ammo just fucked me against the wall in a green room… with his bodyguard keeping out my entire team…. and he’s destroyed my underwear and the dress, along with his cum dripping out of me.

“Babe. Relax.” His lips are twitching as he takes off his suit jacket. “Here, put this on.” And I’m so horrified I do it as I watch all this play out from afar, maybe even in slow motion. All I know is I cannot perform like this.

Ammo’s eyes trail up and down my body as he grins, moving to open the door, and the room fills up with Rachel staring daggers at him. Alberto and Julie pretend they don’t see anything, like the fact that I’m clutching his suit jacket at my breasts, and that the corset and panties are not on the floor, they might as well have a neon sign pointing to them, saying Ammo was here.

“There was an accident, we had a thing…right?” I spit out as Rachel looks disgusted at me, and Ammo throws his head back and laughs.

“Yeah, baby, we definitely had a thing.”

“Look up.” Julie ignores us and is all business as she starts to fix under my eyes as Alberto hisses for Lucy to get Doug.

“Fifteen minutes, Ms. Falcon.” A voice from outside filters in as Rachel turns on the large flatscreen showing the Grammys have started.

“We can’t make it,” Julie states as I breathe out because if I wasn’t panicking before, the frantic movement of everyone around me, save for Ammo, is literally making me dizzy.

“Here, drink.” Ammo shoves a glass in my hand as Julie steps back to let Alberto in.

“Take the jacket off,” Alberto orders and I want to apologize about his beautiful corset, but I seem to be frozen, that, and why make this worse than it already is.

“Here, let me help,” Lucy announces as her cold hands almost make me scream.

“This is a nightmare,” I puff out, then jump as that dreaded voice spills through again.

“Five minutes, Ms. Falcon.”

Somehow, I’m in the dress, and it’s red and magnificent. If I wasn’t trying to not hyperventilate, I could admire the old Hollywood glamour clinging to me like a second skin.

“Tape, get me the tape,” Alberto demands as I close my eyes. I have to pull my shit together.

This is what I do, I perform. Why am I acting like this?

I feel someone fluffing my hair, vaguely notice them taping the sides of the dress so my breasts don’t fall out.

It’s times like this when I wish I was religious…because I need a miracle, or some kind of divine intervention.

“You’re on, Ms. Falcon, time to move.”

I open my eyes.

I’m so fucked.

AMMO

“You’re on, Ms. Falcon, time to move.” My eyes clash with hers. Christ, she’s actually panicking, and it’s not like I can just fuck her on the stage as she reaches for my hand to cling to it.

“I can’t do this,” she whispers, as her makeup artist applies more powder on her chest and breasts since the dress is cut down to her stomach and she’s flushed with anxiety.

“Get Melanie…oh God, have her go on instead of me.” She tries to swallows and I hesitate, should I tell the stage manager she’s not gonna make it?

“What the hell? You have no choice. Get your ass out there and perform,” Rachel snarls and pushes her forward. “It’s your fucking job.”

And I’m done. I might actually do physical harm to this woman.

“Back the fuck away.” Turning to Rachel, “If you ever lay a hand on Courtney, I’ll put you in your grave.” She looks at me, shocked, her face turning red.

“That…are you actually threating me?” She looks around as Courtney puts a hand on my chest, stepping in between us.

“It’s not a threat,” I state.

“Just please, both of you…I need to breathe,” Courtney whispers.

“I’m sorry to interrupt…but what is happening here? Courtney, my love, we’re ready for you,” the stage manager interrupts, throwing all of us the disapproving stink eye as he hands Courtney her earpiece.

“Everything okay?” Malcolm rushes over, his red hair standing up like he’s ready to rip it out.
