Carter glances down at the ground. “I was fine. Just hanging with Drake. Slept in.”
Lie.
Not a full one. He mixed some truth in there. He and I are going to need to have a discussion at some point about some of his recent decisions. He’s a good kid, and I want to make sure he stays on the right path. Not only for his sake but Addilyn’s as well. If he fucks up, it will break her heart. Then he and I will have problems.
“All right,” she sighs. “You want some breakfast?”
“I’m good.” He lifts his head. “Why’s he here?”
A blush instantly hits Addilyn’s cheeks. Her eyes widen a fraction, and I can tell she’s not sure how to answer that question.
“Because your sister is my woman,” I answer for her. He knew this was coming. He’s not surprised. He’s poking because he got in trouble for not answering his sister when she called.
“A cop, sis? Really?”
“Carter!” she hisses.
“Whatever,” he mutters before turning and heading toward his room. The door closes a few seconds later.
“Sorry,” Addilyn says. “I don’t know what his problem is. I thought you two got along.” She worries her lip between her bottom teeth.
Addilyn is so good at dealing with a lot of men at the club. She’s quick to put them in their place, but when it comes to anyone she cares about, that backbone of hers softens quickly.
“We’re fine.” I reach out and snag her wrist to pull her between my thighs. She doesn’t resist. In fact, she leans into me. “I’m sure it’s more than obvious that I stayed the night here and what we did. He’s still your brother, and I would be disappointed if he didn’t give me a hard time. “Kane!” She smacks my chest.
“It’s the truth.” I shrug.
“Do I really look clearly fucked?” She starts to run her fingers through her pink hair.
“You look sexy as hell. And if your brother wasn’t home, I’d have my mouth on that sweet cunt of yours again.” I slip my fingers into her hair, tilting her head back, and kiss her. She parts her lips, letting me take control. My Addilyn is always full of surprises for me.
Her brother will have to learn to deal with it. Sooner rather than later. I’m not going to have him getting between Addilyn and me. The quicker he gets on board, the better. I’ll have a talk with him. It will have to wait until later though. Today is about being with Addilyn.
