“Look at me, baby…” Sev sat up and hooked at finger under her chin. Tilting her face up, he held her eyes with his. “Nobody’s judging you,” he murmured once he had Mia’s full attention. “And nothing’s ruined. We’re still partners with a mission to accomplish and we need to be close to each other to get it done. All right?”

His deep voice and calm words helped. Mia’s heart—which had been galloping in her chest—slowed to a steadier pace.

“Sorry,” she said, taking a deep breath. “It’s just…I wasn’t raised to act the way I did last night. I…I don’t know what got into me.”

“Maybe you’re finally breaking out a little—getting free from that sect you grew up in,” Sev suggested.

Mia frowned.

“I’ve been free for years—I left ages ago.”

“You’re body left, but I have feeling that parts of your mind—and your heart—are still in bondage,” Sev murmured. “It’s not a bad thing to break those chains, Mia—to let yourself be free. And like I said, I’m not judging you.”

“Thank you.” Mia looked away, still feeling a bit stiff and unsure. “That’s nice of you to say, Sev.”

“I’m not just saying it—I mean it. Although if it will make you feel better, we don’t have to talk about it again.”

“I think that would be best,” Mia said. “And…we probably shouldn’t, uh, do anything else like what we did last night again either.”

Sev nodded.

“That’s the way you want it, that’s the way it’s gonna be. Now come on—I’m hungry. Let’s see if we can get some food out of those weird brass tubes in the food prep area.”

“Okay, that’s a good idea.” Mia felt relief stealing over her. Not only was her partner not making a big deal of the things they had done together the night before, he was offering not to talk about it either. It was so nice—so restful to be with a man who was so easy going. Michael had been uptight and irritated about almost everything and he could never let anything go. Sev was the exact opposite—the perfect partner, Mia thought.

“That sounds good—I’d like some breakfast too,” she told him.

“All right then—let’s go get some.”

“First I want to get dressed.” Mia looked down at herself—the ripe points of her nipples were pressing prominently against the thin white nightshirt. She wondered again, had her breasts gotten bigger somehow? They seemed perkier too—fuller and bouncier. That was a crazy thought, but the main thing was to get herself more decently covered.

“Probably a good idea,” Sev murmured and she saw his golden eyes flick to her breasts and away again quickly. “Less…temptation that way. Let’s see if the dresser has any clothes for us—like Brother Jonash promised.”

Mia half expected there to be an outfit for Sev and none for her, but this time the dresser had provided something for each of them.

“Well…high fashion it’s not,” she muttered, frowning as she unfolded the loose white dress. She was going to look like a whale in this! She much preferred darker colors—they were so much more slimming. But when in Rome…or in this case, in the PPP Dome…

Mia sighed. She was just going to have to wear it and that was that. She just hoped it had come with some underwear and a bra because the white fabric was pretty thin—almost as see-through as the nightshirt she had on.

“Hey, is there anything else in the dresser?” she asked Sev.

“Hmm?” He already had on the long black trousers which fit him perfectly and was busy fastening the buttons of the long-sleeved, white shirt. Of course he looked amazing in the cult clothes—unlike she was going to look, Mia was sure.

“I said, is there anything else for me? A bra and underwear maybe?” she asked hopefully.

“Let me look.” Sev opened the drawer again and searched. Mia came over to search with him. But though they looked through all the drawers, there was nothing else for her to wear.

“Well, this sucks,” she muttered. She supposed she would just have to wear the bra and underwear she’d taken off yesterday. She didn’t like the idea at all—she put on clean clothes every morning under normal circumstances—but used underwear was better than nothing.

But when she felt on top of the dresser to find her folded pile of clothes from the day before, it was gone.

“Damnit!” she muttered. The dresser was too high for her to actually see the top of it—one of the disadvantages of being so short. “Sev, can you do me a favor and look for my pantsuit?” she asked him. “I left it up here, on top of the dresser, but I can’t find it now.”

Her partner, whose head was well above the dresser in question, shook his head.

“Sorry, Mia—there’s nothing here.”

“What? But I left it up there last night. I was going to put it in the cleaning chute but I decided I didn’t trust the PPP to know how to wash it—it’s supposed to be dry clean only.” Mia shook her head. “Look again, please?”
