“It also helped me face some things in my past I wasn’t ready to face before,” Mia added. “And it made me realize there really is someone watching over me—over us—after all,” she added, leaning into Severith’s side.

Sylvan smiled as he watched the two of them draw closer.

“The Goddess loves and looks after all her children,” he said. “She has a plan for each of our lives if we will just listen to her. I can tell her plan for the two of you was for you to be together.”

Sev put an arm around his new mate’s shoulders and drew her close to him. Dropping an affectionate kiss on the top of her head, he looked up at Sylvan.

“How about that Joining Ceremony now, Commander?”

“Oh, of course.” Sylvan rose and they did as well. He cleared his throat… “Dear ones, in the presence of the Goddess, she who is the Mother of All Life, we come here today to Join two of her children together in Holy Union…”

After the ceremony was over and Severith and Mia were officially Joined, the two of them left Sylvan’s office looking extremely happy and contented. Sylvan wished he could be as happy himself, but he had much still to worry about.

In addition to dealing with the regular workings of the Mother Ship, he had to assemble a contingent of Unmated males to check on the females in need of assistance in the PPP Dome. And there was also the other matter that had been weighing on his mind…

Was the Cruel Father still set on destroying the Kindred of this universe? Sylvan had thought the matter was put to rest but now he wondered…were any of them safe as long as the malignant deity from another dimension was after them?

Shaking his head, he closed his eyes and murmured a prayer.

“Goddess—you see all these problems on my plate. Please guide me to answers that would please you and thank you, as always, for looking after your children—both the Kindred and all of our brides.”

There was no immediate answer, but Sylvan’s heart felt lighter as he finished the short prayer. The Goddess loved all those she called her own and he knew that she would help him through this latest quandary and all the problems that were to come in the future.

The Mother of All Life was faithful forever and she would not allow the Cruel Father to hurt her children…no matter how often he might try.

THE END?

OF COURSE NOT!
