“You look so fucking good,” Eve praises. “Wow, I don’t know how Beckett has kept his hands off you.”

“Trust me, it hasn’t been easy,” I say. “But he made a promise to Becky that he wouldn’t do anything until he got home after this trip, and they ‘talked’.”

Ramona scrunches her pretty face and shakes her head. “Men, why do they think they have so many choices. Just tell the woman you’re done and move on. God, it’s like they need everything. I don’t know why he’s holding onto her, anyway. The two are like chalk and cheese.”

“I don’t know either,” Eve huffs. “Either way, you don’t owe him anything, honey. So get out there tonight and have a good time. Remy was telling Hank before how good you look in that dress, there are two men you could throw yourself at.”

I laugh. “I’m not that desperate, though Remy certainly wasn’t a waste of time.”

Ramona wiggles her brows. “You’re a bad, bad girl. I like that about you. Give Beckett a reminder of what he’s missing out on if he doesn’t break it off with that stuck up little twatwaffle and pick you.”

I laugh. “Did I tell you she thought I was simple the other night when she came around?”

Eve gasps. “No way.”

I tell them everything that happened.

“Oh, that’s hilarious.” Ramona laughs. “I can’t believe you let her fall for it.”

“She deserved it, at least for a few minutes.” I grin. “Beckett didn’t let it go one for too long.”

“She seems super obsessed with Beckett.” Even scrunches up her nose. “I wonder why?”

“I think she’s miserable.” I shrug. “Having an affair with a biker would bring a lot of excitement into your life.”

Ramona nods, pursing her lips. “Anyway, we didn’t get dressed up to talk about women like her. Let’s get on that dance floor and enjoy. I’m certain you haven’t had a good night in years?”

I shake my head. “Nope, you’d be right. Let’s do this.”

We get a drink and then we’re on that dance floor. We dance until our legs ache, our stomachs hurt from laughing, and the bikers have chased away more than one man each. I was surprised to see Beckett’s eyes on me all night, and when a man got a little too close, he came walking over with his big burly body and scared him off.

Then we danced.

And oh, did we dance.

Hands, bodies, grinding.

It was like sex, right there on the dancefloor.

A dangerous game we’re playing.

Indeed.

I SHOVE MY WAY THROUGH the crowd, getting out of the ladies room is more than a chore when a place is as crowded as this. Needing some fresh air, I head to the entrance instead of the bar. I make it out and walk past the club a little so I can breathe. I press my back against the brick wall and close my eyes, taking in a deep, fulfilling breath. It’s stuffy in there—too many bodies and sometimes, that makes me a little anxious.

I’m not a fan of that many people.

A low voice startles me from my quiet trance, making my eyes pop open.

I see Rocco standing in front of me and it takes a minute for my body to register danger. I stare at him for what seems like an eternity, no doubt a stunned expression on my face as I try to figure out what the hell is going on.

He followed us.

Of course he followed us.

He wasn’t going to sit back and just let the bikers leave town without figuring out where they were going, not when he has his eye on me.

“How wonderful to see you, Poppy,” Rocco purrs, his arms crossing over his chest as he scans me. “I didn’t think they’d let you out alone.”

I take a shaky breath in, a breath he can’t hear, and say, “They don’t own me, Rocco. What are you doing here?”

He grins. “Your bravado won’t help you here, my sweet.”

I grit my teeth, staring at him with a blank expression.

“I’ve only got a minute, so we’ll keep this short,” he goes on when I don’t play into his little scare tactics, “I know you’re planning something with those bikers, I know you’re all going to do something I have no doubt you’ll regret. I’ll tell you now it’s a waste of time, that we’re far ahead of you, but I doubt you’ll listen so I’ll skip that part.”

“You might as well have just said it, considering how long that speech just took,” I throw at him.

I might be scared of falling into Rocco’s hands but I’m not afraid of him doing anything to me right now, in front of a crowded club, with people everywhere. Not even he is that stupid. The bikers will be out any minute, and I’m certain they won’t appreciate his presence.

His mouth twitches, in rage or amusement I don’t know.
