Beckett’s bike is beautiful, candy apple red with a big, lush black seat. It’s loud and it’s sexy, thankfully for me it’s also comfortable. Being on it makes me feel powerful and in control, like I could do anything. I hope this trip drags out, because I am happy to stay right here for as long as possible. I would be happy to just go round and round, not stopping once, but I know that’s not possible.

It doesn’t help that when I’m on the bike, I feel incredibly close to him. My arms are wrapped around his waist, our bodies are pressed together in a way that makes everything inside me tingly. I know it isn’t wise to feel this way, but I can’t stop what has already begun. My feelings for Beckett have grown, and it drives me crazy to know that for the first time in my life, I have no control.

I can’t stop what’s happening right in front of me.

We ride until the sun begins to set, and we make it just in time to check into the massive hotel that Riggs booked us rooms in. I can’t say I’ve ever stayed somewhere this fancy before, but I know I’m excited. We get off the bikes and I stretch my legs, making sure not to complain because I loved every second of that trip. I move my body, shaking out the aches and pains, and then I smile at Beckett. “That was frigging awesome.”

He gives me the smallest, most genuine smile I’ve ever seen come from him. “Glad you liked it.”

Oh, I more than liked it.

We all head inside. On this trip, Riggs has brought along Remy, Hugh, Hank, Adan, Ramona, and Eve, as well as Beckett and me. It’s a nice little group and I could see myself wanting to spend more and more time with these guys, which is exactly why I need to get this done so I can leave. I can’t allow myself to become attached. If I do, I’m never going to have the strength out there that I had before, and I need that. God, do I need it.

Riggs checks us in and then hands Beckett a key. “You two are in room 306.”

I blink.

I’m staying with Beckett?

It makes sense, of course, considering he’s practically been living with me at the warehouse, but in a nice hotel room together after he swore nothing would happen? Is this some kind of torture?

It has to be.

“We’re staying together?” I ask Riggs.

He nods, sharply. “Got an issue with that?”

“Well, I mean, no but ...”

“Good, we’ll meet for dinner and drinks soon.”

With that, he turns and walks off. Eve gives me a sympathetic smile before disappearing behind him. I turn and look at Beckett, who seems unfazed by the idea. He lifts up our small bag that I was carrying on my back during the ride and walks it up to the elevator that we take to the third floor.

Our room is nice, and when I say nice, I mean nice. Clearly Riggs has thrown some cash around for this trip, because I’ve never stayed in a room like this before. I walk in like a kid on Christmas, huge grin on my face, a light in my eyes I’m certain nobody has seen from me before. I run into the room, squealing with happiness as I go to the massive bed, throw myself on it, and then dart into the bathroom where I see a huge spa tub. It’s modern, sleek, and so god damned nice.

A view of the city and the ocean can be seen from the huge balcony with double doors. God, I could live here and be completely content for the rest of my days. This is the nicest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and I don’t ever want to leave. I spin around to see Beckett behind me, standing in the doorway, a grin on his face. “Anyone would think you’ve never seen luxury, Pop-Tart.”

“I haven’t,” I tell him, grinning sheepishly. “If I’m honest, I have never stayed in a room like this in my entire life, hell, I don’t even think I’ve seen a picture of a room like this.”

“That’s fucked,” he murmurs. “Glad I could show you somethin’ new.”

“You’ve showed me plenty new,” I say, and then look away before he can see the color that swarms my cheeks.

Snap out of it, Poppy.

“We’re goin’ out soon, you want to get in that bath?”

I look at him. “With you?”

“Yeah.”

“I’m certain that’s not a good idea ...”

“With your panties on, calm down.”

I bite my lip. I do have a sexy little swimming suit I could wear. It would be fun. It would also be very tempting and I’m not certain I have it in me to avoid that kind of temptation right now. But, it’s not me who needs to avoid it, it’s Beckett and if he thinks he can handle it then I’m not about to say no.
