Ox

The only place open at this time of night for Skittles to get ice cream is the pharmacy. Once Lex says she needs to go in to get something, we all get out to go inside.

As I stroll the aisles, I remember Lex mentioning anal. We’ve never done it together, but I’m up for breaking her in. I go to look at the lubes as she grabs a few things for her and AJ.

I’m reading the back of one of the boxes when I feel a hand on my back. I turn, thinking it’s my wife and find this chick staring up at me. It takes a second for me to place the face as I step out of her reach.

“Hey, Ox,” she says and gives me a smile.

I groan internally as I recognize her. She used to frequent the bar. I might have fucked her once or twice on a drunk night.

“Not interested,” I say, not bothering to strike up a conversation.

It’s late and I want to get home to my son and fuck my wife. It doesn’t make sense for me to entertain whatever this one has to say.

“Wow, I know it’s been a while, but I didn’t think we ended things on a bad note.”

“End, to come to a close. Over, no more, finished. When something ends, you don’t want a repeat. Like this conversation, I want it to end. Goodbye.”

“You don’t have to be rude.”

I shrug. “I’m not being rude. I’m being direct. Big difference.”

“Okay, so let me be direct. I haven’t been fucked by anyone the way you fucked me. I can follow you to your place.”

“No, you can’t.”

“Hey, babe, they don’t have the cream for that rash, but they said give them ten minutes for the script for that green shit leaking from your dick,” Lex sings as she comes up and places a hand on my chest.

She then turns to the shocked weirdo who doesn’t understand no. “Hi, are you the one who gave him an STD this time? I’m getting so tired of you guys. Leave my husband alone and see a doctor. This is getting ridiculous.”

“No… no. It wasn’t me. Ox, you take care of yourself,” she rushes out and takes off.

Lex bursts into laughter at my side. I grasp her face and kiss her deeply. She used to do shit like that all the time when girls would hit on me.

I laugh into her mouth. “That was priceless.”

“You were a dick to her, and she still didn’t catch a clue. I thought I’d help you out.”

“You heard that?”

“We were one aisle over. Pit was going to come in for the rescue, but I had you.” She winks.

“Let’s get home.” I shake my head and lead her to the register.

Chapter 48

The Little Things

Alexis

The last two weeks have been amazing. I wake with a smile on my face every morning. Ant is a great father and an amazing husband.

It’s almost bittersweet to see what I’ve missed out on all this time. Deliveries of flowers in the middle of the day. Waking up in the middle of the night to back massages when he comes in from work.

Not to mention the amazing sex that follows. However, it’s moments like this that mean the most to me. Ant and AJ are tussling on the floor as music plays in the background.

AJ’s squeals and giggles warm my heart. My son is always so happy these days. I watch as he cups Ant’s face in his little hands and gives him a kiss.

“I love you, Daddy.”

I wipe my eyes. The look on Ant’s face is priceless. He’s smiling from ear to ear.

“I love you too, son,” Ant says, his voice a little choked up.

This is the life. I love my guys. Seeing them together has put so much fight back in me.

Nothing has happened so far, but if whoever’s out there decides to come for me or my family, I have something for them. I look down at my lap and knit my brows. What if we’re our own worst enemies?

Ant has something that’s been on his mind, but I’m too afraid to pry. I have this feeling whatever it is will affect us. Like this too-good-to-be-true bubble will burst.

“You all right?” Ant’s voice pulls me from my musing.

I look up and lock eyes with him. My son’s eyes are so much like his some days and others they are just like mine. I want another baby, but what if we self-destruct?

What if I’m already pregnant? I won’t run again. This is my home.

I nod. “I’m okay.”

“Did you tell Skittles you’re considering signing the contract?”

“No.”

“Why not? Are you having second thoughts? I told you we’ll work it out. I made an appointment to look at that school for AJ. They’ll take him once he’s potty-trained. We can get it done together.”
