Chuckling, he shook his head. “We could call it that, sure.”

Groaning, I clutched my chest dramatically. “Oh, I’m hurt.”

Wearing a teasing grin, he glanced down at the table and then back up at me. “Well, how about we head back to your place and I try to apologize?”

I wasn’t sure what he was thinking, but the flirty smile and the wicked glint in his eyes said I was going to enjoy the way he made it up to me.

“I think that sounds like a wonderful plan.” And it was going to be a wonderful evening.

As long as I didn’t overanalyze how I felt about his maybe date on Friday, sub and pup Bishop was clearly into me…but what did Daddy Bishop think of having a Dom?

Chapter 12

Bishop

“Okay, we’re good. We’re going to have fun tonight, and then on Friday, I’m going to see Ian. Cohen is good with that and it’s going to be fine.” No matter how many times I repeated the words, my stress level just kept rising.

So I did the only sensible thing…I called Wesley.

Thankfully, I already knew he wasn’t busy tonight, so I used the rental car's Bluetooth and called him, hoping he’d tell me I was right.

“What did you do?” His immediate response as he picked up the phone made me smile. “You’re supposed to be on a date.”

“I am.” Sighing, I focused on the road and tried to piece together my conversation with Cohen. “I’m driving over to Cohen’s place after having a wonderful dinner of entirely too much pasta.”

I was going to have to find a gym soon if I was actually going to stay. Running could only do so much and I liked food.

He chuckled but didn’t get sidetracked. “But…”

Taking a deep breath, I let it out slowly. “But I basically asked him what his intentions were and explained about my not quite date things with Ian on Friday.”

“You really did it?” Wesley’s words seemed to have gotten stuck in his throat because it took him a second before he could continue. “I mean, you said you were going to, but…”

“I know.” I could’ve put it all off, but that just wasn’t who I was. “I feel better in some regards.”

Barking out a laugh, Wesley huffed. “Stop talking like the first line in a book. Tell me what happened.”

Feeling lighter, I had to fight the urge to laugh. “Okay, we’re on the same page with wanting to see where things are going, and he said he’s not seeing anyone else right now.”

The sincere look on his face said he wasn’t lying about that either.

And the gossip was too strong at L and L for him to be dating anyone from that world without my having already figured it out.

“But…there’s a but.” Wesley’s nervous excitement had me giggling. “Stop that.”

I managed to stop. However, all I could hear was him saying but and that just made it even harder. “Okay, no more laughing.”

His scoff said he didn’t believe it, but I vowed to do my best…primarily because I was almost to Cohen’s house.

“I’m worried he wasn’t jealous of me seeing someone else.” Kind of. “Isn’t he supposed to be…controlling or something?”

Wesley was quiet for several seconds. “Okay, let’s back up here. You asked him about his intentions, and he, what, he made it clear he wanted to keep seeing you and that he wasn’t dating anyone else, right?”

“Yes.” Okay, maybe Wesley had a point. “He was very clear about that.”

“So we’re not worried about what he wants. He wants you.” The matter-of-fact way he pointed it out had my worries fading. “Then what?”

“I’m not sure the exact order but we talked about the possibility of my staying here, and I think that led to the not going to define things too strictly part of our conversation.” Because yeah, it wouldn’t be fair to label us as anything until I knew what I was doing. “And then I realized I needed to tell him about Ian even if it’s not strictly a date because hiding it would’ve made it sound fishy later.”

Wesley laughed. “Oh yeah.”

“He was okay with it, though.” Right? Well, he hadn’t been upset. “I think?”

Nearly giggling, Wesley sighed. “What did he say?”

“Oh, I forgot. He started out by making a joke about not being exclusive because the guys at L and L are naked friendly.” It still made me smile, but he wasn’t wrong.

It was one of those things we’d have to set limits on if we did get to the serious part…but then again, he’d been making jokes about fun stuff on our first date, so he might not be the jealous type.

Wesley’s giggle filled the car. “He’s right, but then what…you’re killing me.”

He was so dramatic.

“Okay, so joke about naked friends and then I told him about Ian and then he said that I would be a good Daddy and I think he called Ian cute or maybe a cutie.” I’d been a bit wrapped up in the moment to be sure which.
