Dario chuckles and nudges my arm with his nose. “I like to fuck first thing in the morning. Get used to it,” he says.

I remove my arm and look up at him with wide eyes as my orgasm hits in that exact moment. It takes a moment for me to recover. When I do, I lift onto my elbows and stare at him.

“What?” he asks, lifting a brow.

My thoughts are racing. Clearly, he read my journal. I’m still trying to understand how. Then it clicks.

I palm my forehead and groan. I was so focused on my glass of wine. I left the journal on the kitchen island.

“Come shower with me. Then we can have a talk,” he says.

I go to wrap the sheet around me to stand. He snorts and snatches it away. I look at him with a scowl.

“Carleen, I don’t know what’s going on in your head, but neither of us will be forgetting what happened last night.”

I roll my eyes and stomp my way into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I feel him hot on my heels. When I look over my shoulder, he’s right behind me in all his naked glory.

I nearly trip over my feet as I try to put distance between us. Damn pigeon toes, it’s how I fell on the playground all those years ago when I realized I was totally in love with him. Frowning at the thought, I turn to keep my focus on grabbing my toothbrush.

Dario palms my breasts as he stares into my eyes through our reflection. As tall as I am, I still look so small standing before him. I won’t even dare to think of how good we look together.

I thought this day would bring me so much joy, but I feel like I’m going to lose my friend even sooner than I thought. I can’t help feeling like we’ve doomed our relationship.

I rinse my mouth out and straighten to turn to Dario. He locks eyes with me and says so much in his stare. My belly grows warm with uncertainty.

“You read my diary?” I ask with my brows furrowed.

He brushes his thumb against the corner of my mouth. The simple gesture softens any anger I have rising. I shake my head and go to step around him to head for the shower.

A yelp leaves my mouth when he tugs me back to him and tosses me over his shoulder. Another yelp escapes my lips as he slaps my ass, then bites it before kissing the sting away.

“My shower is bigger,” he says as he laughs.

“I’m going to kick your ass,” I growl.

He kneads the cheek he slapped. My brain is still trying to catch up with this morning and last night. What does all this mean?

“Stop thinking so much. I’d rather my eggs fry in a pan,” he rumbles.

“Ha ha.”

When we get to his room, he moves to the master bath and places me in the shower. He then turns to walk back out to the sink to brush his teeth. I take the time to stare at his body, taking in every detail of his muscled frame.

Dario has been into kickboxing for as long as I have. We started together as kids. However, I’ve stuck to it because it’s been more time we get to spend together, and it doesn’t hurt that I’ve gotten to ogle him all sweaty and worked up.

In this moment, I marvel at his chiseled back and tight, firm ass. At almost six-six, Dario is a work of art. His back is broad, his arms are huge, and his legs are thick. Swole is the word that comes to mind as I watch him move. Although slightly leaner than Dante, it’s not by much. The Di Lorenzo brothers are not small men.

He rinses his mouth out and reaches for something in one of the drawers before he turns to face me with a smile on his face. I fold my arms under my breasts as I watch him saunter back toward me. I try not to look down at his erection. It’s completely distracting.

He enters the shower and crowds me up against the wall behind me. I place my hands on his ribs, trying to hold on to the tiny space separating us. That doesn’t stop him. Dario dips his head and kisses me with so much passion, I forget all my thoughts.

“I remember that guy you ghosted over morning breath. There’s no way you’re ghosting me, but I don’t want to give you a reason to either,” he says against my lips.

I burst into laughter. I did tell him about Sean. God, he had bad morning breath and always wanted to talk first thing. It pissed me off. He had great dick and was convenient at the time because he worked at the hospital too, but that breath was too much.
