She just told us she knows someone from her past who is going to see if he can find her, but she hasn’t told Cade about it.

“It’s probably not a good idea,” she answers me, “but I’m doing it anyway.”

“Addi,” Serenity frowns. “You and Cade have been so good, so strong, are you sure you want to go behind his back and do this?”

“He is refusing to look for her, refusing to tell me anything about what happened between them, and I’m not going to stand for it. I told him about my life, I gave him everything, and he’s giving me nothing. Until he’s ready to do that, I’m not backing down.”

“Take it from me,” I tell her, carefully. “Secrets and lies can really mess your relationship up. Are you honestly willing to risk that?”

“Janine is right,” Ciara cuts in, leaning onto the table with her elbows. “It’s not worth the risk.”

“This is important to me,” Addison tells us. “I need you girls with me on this. I’m not asking for your help; I’m just asking that you don’t say anything.”

“If your dad finds out I knew, he’ll have my ass,” Serenity points out, crossing her arms. “So, as far as anyone is concerned, I know nothing.”

Addison gives her a grossed-out look. “Ugh. I don’t want to think about my dad and your ass in the same situation, but I hear you, you know nothing.”

Serenity grins. “He likes my ass.”

“Serenity!” Ciara giggles. “Stop teasing her.”

Addi finally cracks a smile. “You can all deny any knowledge, I won’t drop you in the deep end. I just need someone to vent to and you’re my girls.”

“Well, you know we’ve always got your back,” Ciara smiles at her, “but please don’t mess up your relationship with Cade. I don’t think I can be in this club without you.”

Addison waves a hand. “It’ll be fine, I’m making him work for it right now. It’s kind of nice when he’s all broody and chasing me around. I think I’ll enjoy it a little longer.”

“You’re a bad woman.” I chuckle.

Addison grins. “Oh, he has no idea.”

“So, this person you’re going to ask for help, are they safe?” Serenity asks. “Because we all know what happens when you double cross the club. I had a gun held to my head...”

“I’m not double crossing anyone,” Addison assures her. “I’m just getting help from an old friend. He’s a PI now, and I just want to see if he can locate Cade’s sister. That’s all.”

“What if Cade doesn’t want her back in his life?” I ask her, narrowing my eyes. “Maybe their relationship is dangerous, or toxic, and there is a good reason he didn’t go after her.”

“Maybe,” Addi nods. “But I just want to make sure she is okay. He never has to know. If she’s not okay, it’s up to him what he does with that information.”

I worry that she is saying that now, but the truth is she won’t be able to help herself if she finds out his sister isn’t okay and goes after her or tries to help. Still, there is no telling Addison no, so I guess we just have to let her do what she thinks is right. I don’t blame her for wanting to know what happened to Cade’s sister. She did find out something pretty awful and because of that, she wants answers.

I probably would, too.

“Anyway,” Serenity asks, changing the subject, “how are you and Muff going?”

“Good,” I tell her. “Things feel like they’ve gone back to normal. I still have my moments of feeling hurt, but mostly, I’m getting through.”

I haven’t told them I’m pregnant yet.

I want to wait a little longer before I do.

“Does he still talk to Harper?” Ciara asks.

“He hasn’t for a while. I think she is dating again. I’m glad she has moved on, I actually felt sorry for her. I think she really loved him.”

“It’s hard not to love him,” Addison laughs. “He’s addictive.”

I giggle. “Tell me about it.”

“Are you two going to take yourselves back to that sex club?” Ciara wiggles her brows. “I heard you had a good time.”

My cheeks grow red, and I flip her the bird. “Zip your lip, woman.”

“Yeah,” Serenity wiggles her brows. “I heard you are on the threesome train.”

I shake my head, but I can’t stop smiling.

“I don’t know if we’ll go back,” I tell them. “But I’m not going to say no if he asks. It was pretty fun.”

Ciara sighs. “Oh, it’s the best. I can’t wait to go back.”

“Spike lives for that stuff.” Addi laughs. “He’s such an animal.”

“You have no idea.”

We finish up our coffee and laugh until it’s time to go.

Gosh, these girls are my entire life now.

I couldn’t ask for much more.

Things are finally working out just as they should.

WALKING BACK TO MY car, I feel light and happy, like nothing in the world could touch me. It’s as if all the pressure has gone, and I’m finally in a good place. I think about the baby growing inside me, and pray it sticks. My body has mostly healed, though I still have one wrist bandaged and I get pain in my ribs most nights. The outside of my body is now bruise free and I have a few scars that will fade with time.
