By the time I land, my body is full of adrenaline, and I feel as though I can conquer the entire world.
Turning, I look for Janine, and grin when I see her parachute slowly coming down to the ground. When she lands, the smile on her face is so big, it makes my heart swell. The moment she’s released, she comes running toward me, throwing herself into my arms with a happy squeal. “That was the best feeling in the world!”
“Told you you’d like it, baby,” I murmur into her hair.
Pulling back, legs around my waist, she gets a dark expression. “I heard that sex while high is even better.”
There she is.
My girl.
“I think you might be right,” I growl.
“Behind the plane?”
Hell yeah.

SIX WEEKS LATER.
“What are you goin’ to do with all this cash?” I ask Janine, staring at the safe we have returned to the house.
She shrugs. “I really don’t know. I wanted it for Ebony and Max’s future. What do you think?”
“Think that’s a good idea.”
“I wouldn’t mind getting a bigger car,” she tells me, her voice growing soft.
Turning to face her, I tip my head to the side, confused. “Yours is only new.”
“I know, but... I mean, bigger.”
“Ebony and Max have plenty of room.”
She cracks a smile. “My God, Brian, you’re really slow. I need a bigger car because I think I’m pregnant.”
My heart jumps and I stare at her, praying I heard that right. She’s pregnant? Again? With our baby? Fuck. A swirl of emotions rips through my chest as I think about that, and I know, oh, I fucking know that is the perfect ending to our story. We talked about having more kids, but when everything happened, I didn’t know if we’d ever get to that point again.
“Are you fuckin’ serious?” I grin stepping toward her.
“Well, my period is late, and I feel like absolute shit. So, I’m guessing yes, but I have to test.”
“Then what are you waitin’ for?”
Laughing, she steps forward, and I lift her up, pulling her soft body against mine and bringing my lips down over hers. Fuck, this is perfect, and it kills me that I ever thought, even for just a moment, that this isn’t what I wanted. She’s everything I could ever want, and it fucking breaks me that she didn’t spend every waking hour thinking that.
“Let’s test.”
“Fuck yeah.”
Disappearing into the bathroom, I wait for her to do whatever it is she needs. A minute later, she comes out with a stick in her hand, the cap back on. “It says wait five minutes, but gosh, I don’t know if I can.”
“You got a stash of them hiding away or somethin’?” I ask, crossing my arms, keeping the grin.
“Something like that. Ugh, what if it’s negative? I’m so nervous.”
I take her by the waist, pulling her close and rubbing myself against her. “I think we can keep practicing if it is. I’ll take one for the team and keep it up to you.”
She slaps my chest, giggling. “You’re an animal. Should we look?”
“Baby, it has been less than a minute.”
Stomping her foot, she huffs and presses her lips together. Hopping from one leg to the other, she exhales and yells. “I can’t. I have to look.”
Flipping the test over, she stares at it for a long moment. Seconds go by, and I begin to get worried that it might be negative, but when she looks back up at me, it’s with a grin so big I know it’s positive.
“We’re havin’ a baby?” I murmur, low.
“We’re having a baby!”
“Fuck,” I growl, pulling her to me and wrapping my arms around her. “Best news I’ve had in a long damn while.”
“It’s a lot of kids,” she giggles into my chest, “I hope you’re ready.”
“Was fuckin’ born ready.”
“I hope it’s a girl this time,” Janine beams up at me.
Frowning, I shake my head. “Hell no, I need an army of boys to take care of Ebony.”
Rolling her eyes, Janine steps back. “Ebony has you to take care of her, there is nothing else in the world she needs.”
She’s right about that.
With me around, nobody will ever harm my family again.
I vow it.

“ARE YOU SURE THAT’S a good idea?” I ask Addison, sitting next to her at a coffee shop.
We’re all here because she called us in to talk.
None of us knew what it was about, but it’s safe to say things between her and Cade have been all over the place since she found out what happened with him. She has been staying with Jackson and Serenity, which tells me she’s not letting it go easily. The problem with Addison is, she’s like a dog with a bone, and she doesn’t let things go.
She is determined to find out about Cade’s sister, and I’m worried about where that might lead her.
