“I don’t know where he is.”

Grim tutted. “That is the wrong answer.” He stood and asked his men for the bandages.

“Wait, please wait. None of us know where he is. We’re given coordinates. Where we’re to drop off packages. That’s all. We never get to see him.”

His men had already rid him of his cell phone. Grim went over to the table to pick it up. There was no passcode, and he tutted at the stupidity of the man. There were coordinates, taking him to a hotel.

It was time to finish this.

“There were ten kids,” the officer said.

Grim turned to look at William. He was the only man he dealt with inside the force. William always answered his calls without question, and he also took the payment that Grim left him.

It had been a good working relationship, one they had both profited from for the last ten years.

“Only ten?” Grim asked. “How many kids are missing in the area?”

“Twenty-five.”

Grim gritted his teeth. That meant at least fifteen kids had been moved, potentially processed, or sold in the last few days. He wasn’t happy.

The coordinates had led him to a hotel, and once inside, he had dealt with the men who’d been keeping guard. But there was no sign of Anthony Thistle. Once he realized the kids were being kept, most of them heavily drugged, he called William. Anger rushed through him.

“You saved ten, Grim,” William said.

“Fuck off.” He wasn’t interested in the ones that had been saved. He hadn’t saved them. All he had done was make a few calls.

Stepping out of the hotel, night had already fallen. He had to go home, but he didn’t know how he was going to face his wife. Fifteen kids were not going home tonight.

All the security cameras surrounding the hotel had been turned off. There was no way of locating those that had come and gone. It was a dead end. Grim ran a hand down his face. He had to go back to Eve, he missed her.

“Sir?” one of his guards asked.

Grim shook his head. He wasn’t in the mood to talk. Stepping to the car, his cell phone began to ring, and he pulled it out to see Eve was calling him. This did make him frown. Ever since she had learned what he did, she always gave him space to do his work. She never called him. A sense of dread washed over him. Taking the call, he pressed his cell phone against his ear and waited.

“Talk to him!”

Grim didn’t recognize the male voice, but he recognized Eve’s frightened one.

“Hello,” Eve said.

He heard the pain in her voice as well as the fear.

“Eve,” he said.

She let out a squeal.

“Hello, Grim,” the male voice said over the line.

Grim’s hands clenched into fists.

“Anthony Thistle,” he said.

“Ah, I see I don’t need an introduction.” He let out a laugh.

“You’re making a big mistake,” Grim said.

“Actually, I would say you made a big mistake. While you started to interfere with my business, you left your sweet, precious wife unprotected.” Anthony gave a tut. “Those soldiers were no match for me, but then it was so easy to get to your wife, I have to wonder if you really love her.”

With every word he spoke, anger built up in Grim. He should have known the weak fuck would try to go after his wife. The moment he realized Anthony wasn’t in his hotel, he should have gone after him.

Anthony was in his home, near his wife. Grim felt that rage inside him take a very sharp and dark turn. He wasn’t happy at all. He wanted to kill.

“You know, blonde-haired, blue-eyed women are quite popular right now. I know a lot of men that would love to have your wife. She would fetch a pretty penny. She’s a little on the chunky side, so that would bring her price down.”

He heard Eve cry out.

“If you touch her—”

“What are you going to do?” Anthony asked. “You’re not here, are you?” He laughed, loud, and the sound grated on Grim’s last nerve. “There’s no one here to stop me. I can fuck your wife. Take her mouth, her pussy, her ass. I can have every single hole and maybe even cut her a new one, because no one is here to stop me.”

Grim was about to say something when suddenly, he heard Anthony scream and yell that Eve was a dumb fucking bitch. Then the line went dead.

He didn’t know what his wife had done, but he didn’t have a lot of time to think about it either. He had to get to her and fast.

Chapter Ten

Eve didn’t like this. She hated it and she couldn’t stand the thought of anything bad happening to Grim.

Yes, she got it—he wasn’t a great man, but he also wasn’t a bad man either. He was her kind of man. Her husband.
