She nodded, a very soft, quiet sob falling from her lips. “He doesn’t exist at that moment with you anymore, baby. It’s just us—your two men who you trust.”
She slowly opened her eyes and then she wrapped her arms tight around my waist, resting her head on my shoulder. She softly cried, her shoulders shaking. I just wrapped my arms around her and rested my chin on her head, looking at my brother.
He smiled at me, and that smile? It meant everything. I had always envied my younger brother for being able to accomplish so much. He was a people person, knew how to treat people ninety-nine percent of the time. He was someone you could always rely on.
I had always been the wild card. It was just in my nature.
But his smile? It was encouragement. It meant that I was doing something right.
And with Ally? I was trying my damnest to be perfect for her.
I held Ally’s hand in mine as I led her inside of our new house. Christian was walking on the other side of her with his hand on her lower back. Once we were inside, I brought her hand to my lips and pressed a kiss to her fingers before I let her hand go. “Go explore,” I told her.
She smiled at me before she leaned up and pressed a quick kiss to Christian’s cheek. Then, she walked off from us, looking around the house in amazement. I had gotten all new furniture. I didn’t want anything reminding her of that fucking evening.
This was supposed to be a fresh start for her—a fresh start away from all of the bullshit.
“This place is fucking amazing, bro,” Christian spoke up. I looked over at him, turning my eyes away from the beautiful woman who was smiling at her new home.
“Thought it would be perfect for her,” I told him.
He nodded. “It is.” He smiled. “Look at her, Caiden. She’s smiling. She fucking needed this. We’ve still got a long way to go with her, but she’s going to be okay. We just need to continue being patient and make sure she receives everything she needs to heal and to get better.”
“I think forcing her to go into that night in her mind and replacing Randall with us a few nights ago helped her,” I told my brother. He nodded in agreement. “She needed that, Christian. She just needs more proof that we’ll always continue to love her.”
“And do you?” Christian asked me as he turned his head to meet my eyes. “Do you love her, Caiden?”
I nodded. “With every fucking fiber of my being, Christian. She’s my beginning and my end. I’m not walking away from her—never fucking leaving her. She’s stuck with me.”
“Good,” Christian said with a single nod of his head. “Shit with her isn’t going to be easy, bro.”
I shrugged. “Never said it would be,” I reminded him. “But she’s worth it. I’m going to light that fire within her,” I promised him. “And you’ll be there to ground her, keep her together when I do.”
Christian laughed softly. “You annoy the fuck out of her when you do that shit.”
I grinned. “Fucking good. She needs to be annoyed sometimes. It gives her a reason to come out of her head.”
When I walked into the kitchen, Ally was making herself a bowl of ramen noodles. It settled well in her stomach—her words. I frankly didn’t care as long as she ate something.
I slid up behind her and placed my hands on the counter on either side of her, pressing my body against her back. Her breath hitched in her throat when I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the back of her neck. Her hair was thrown up into a messy bun, giving me perfect access to one of my favorite parts of her body.
“I’m trying to eat, Caiden.” She giggled, the sound warming my fucking heart.
“Mmm,” I moaned right in her ear. Her hands flattened on the countertop, her head leaning back against my shoulder. “I was thinking of having dessert—it’s the best part of any meal.”
“Dessert sounds fucking fantastic,” Christian agreed as he stepped into the kitchen, his voice raspy with sleep from his nap.
Ally squeaked in shock when I pushed her uncooked bowl of ramen noodles aside and lifted her onto the counter. She was wearing a dress today, giving me easy access to what I wanted.
She moaned when I pushed her dress up to her hips, my rough, calloused palms sliding over her smooth thighs. Her body trembled under my touch when I lifted her dress over her head, tossing it down to the kitchen floor.
No bra. Fucking perfect.
Christian gripped her chin and covered her lips with his as I pulled her lacy, black panties down her legs, tossing them to the side with her dress.
