“You’re going to make me cry.” I quickly fanned my face. I was wearing make-up, and we still had pictures to do. Raccoon eyes were not pretty.
He grinned at me. Julian hugged me next. “Always knew you were destined for great things, little sis. You did so good, and you stayed strong despite the odds being against you. I’m so damn proud of you.”
Meghan yanked him back before she wrapped me up in a tight hug. Julian laughed at her. My throat closed up with tears as I tightly hugged her back, my heart squeezing in my chest.
“I am so honored to be part of your beautiful journey, Ally,” she quietly told me. I sniffled, blinking fast to keep from crying. “You’ve blossomed into such a beautiful and strong young woman, and I’m so fucking proud of you. Continue pushing through and climbing upward, Ally. You’re going to do great, amazing things.”
She pulled back from me and reached into her purse, pulling out a tissue. I took it from her with a grateful smile, and she held up her compact mirror so I could fix my makeup. I laughed. “You’re a lifesaver.”
She grinned at me. “What are sisters for?”
Her eyes widened at something behind me. I spun around only to see Caiden on one knee, a black, velvet box in his hand opened to reveal a beautiful, diamond ring. My hands flew up to my mouth, tears instantly rushing down my face and ruining my make-up.
But he still smiled at me like I was the most beautiful person in his life.
“Ally Johnson, two and a half years ago, when you gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Christian and I told you that we both wanted you to marry me.” He drew in a deep breath. “I’ve just been waiting for the perfect time. I wanted it to be the perfect day for you—something beautiful and unforgettable—just like you.”
I sobbed. “I never wanted to settle down with anyone, much less a woman,” he smirked, “before you.” I laughed, though it sounded like a mix between a sob and a laugh. “But I’ve got to admit, babe, anal—”
Christian smacked him on the back of the head, but all of us were laughing. Caiden couldn’t be serious for shit.
“What I’m trying to say is, baby, I want to marry you. I want to make you a Greene, and I want to spend the rest of my life loving you and watching you continue to glow between me and my brother.”
He drew in a deep breath. “So, Ally, will you marry me?”
I laughed and placed my hand over my belly all while my tears ran down my face. “I guess it’s a good thing you popped the question before I told you I’m pregnant,” I teased. His eyes widened in shock. “Otherwise, it would make your proposal look horrible.”
“You’re pregnant?” he asked, not even caring I was poking fun at him.
I smiled at him as I held my hand out to him, a giggle falling past my lips at the stupefied look on his face. “Yes, I’ll marry you. Yes, I’m pregnant. And, thank your brother—he helped me plan this. It’s your baby.”
“Holy shit!” he yelled. I screamed in shock when he suddenly lurched up from the ground and yanked me into his arms, swinging me around in a circle.
He set me on my feet and grabbed my face in his hands, taking my lips in a hard, bruising kiss. I moaned, my hands gripping his shirt in my fists, my lips instantly opening beneath his.
“Bro, I think you’re forgetting to put the ring on her finger,” Christian teased, breaking through our moment.
“Fuck,” Caiden grumbled. He grabbed the ring from Christian and slipped it on my finger. “I got distracted.” I giggled, leaning up on my tiptoes to kiss him again.
Meghan squealed and wrapped me up in her arms as soon as I stepped back from Caiden to look at the rest of my family. I sobbed, completely falling apart.
I was going to get married.
I turned to face Christian. Caiden took Taya from him, and Christian reached up, cupping my face in his hands. “Glow, my moon. Always fucking glow.”
Then, his lips covered mine.
