And since she was used to taking her medications around seven each morning because of school, her not taking them by this point—almost four hours later—was what had messed her up.

“I’m sorry,” she whimpered.

I leaned down and soothed my lips over hers. “It’s okay,” I assured her. Fuck, she looked so broken and tired, and it physically hurt to see her like this. “I’m here; let me take care of you.” I nodded in thanks to Caiden when he set her meds on the bed with a bottle of water. He slipped out of the room right after, giving us the privacy we needed.

I sat further up on the bed and settled my crying woman between my legs. “Take your meds,” I gently ordered.

She reached forward and slowly opened each bottle, putting her medications into her hands until she had a small cluster of pills to swallow down. Once she swallowed them and capped her water again, I quickly knocked everything off the bed with my foot and turned her around, dragging her lips to mine.

“Be my moon,” I whispered as I ran my lips over her jaw. She moaned softly, already getting lost in me and what I was making her feel. “Let me help you live, beautiful. All I need is for you to shine for me.”

I let her set the pace this time between us, and when she finally slid down on me, her eyes shined.

Always so fucking beautiful.

I encouraged her by running my hands over her body, whispering sweet words about how perfect she was for me. Because she was. And I’d never let her believe anything different.

Ally

Caiden stepped into the house a couple of hours later. He was holding some groceries in his hands. “I’ve got a few more bags out in the car,” he told Christian. “Can’t be letting your girl stay here and starve.”

I glowered at Caiden. “I’m not starving,” I told him, defending Christian. “I’m capable of cooking. I don’t need everything to be microwaveable.”

Caiden snorted. “Makes life a hell of a lot easier, though,” he retorted. He flashed me a smile. “Glad you’re feeling better.”

My cheeks darkened, and I shyly looked away from him. Christian tilted my chin up and pressed his lips to mine. “Shine,” he whispered against my lips.

I smiled up at him. He grinned before he pressed a kiss to my forehead and stepped back, going to grab the rest of the groceries as Caiden began to put the ones he brought in away. I moved to help, but he shot me a look that quickly rooted me to my seat. “Keep your little ass on the stool,” he ordered. “We can handle this.”

“I’m not fragile, you know.”

He shrugged. “A woman that can cry like that and come out on the other side strong as hell? I know you’re not fragile.” I blinked back tears at his words. “But you’ve had a rough as fuck morning.”

I sighed. “I have rough as fuck mornings all the time, Caiden. It doesn’t mean that I can’t help put away groceries.”

He shrugged. “Don’t care. You’re not helping.” He looked up as Christian walked into the kitchen. “Tell your stubborn ass woman to stop arguing with me.”

Christian grinned at me. “Give him hell, beautiful.”

Caiden stood back up to his full height and glowered at Christian. “That’s literally the exact opposite of what I just told you to do.”

My phone pinged with a text. I slid it across the counter toward me and swiped up on the screen, ignoring Christian and Caiden as they went back and forth with each other.

Axel

You good, Sis? Christian said you’re alright now, but I’m fucking worried about you.

I’m fine. Had a rough morning. I didn’t wake up on time to take my medicine.

I looked up at Christian, only for his eyes to already be on me. I flushed under his intense gaze. “Everything good?”

I smiled at him and nodded. “Just Axel,” I assured him. “He’s worried about me.”

A smirk tilted Christian’s lips suddenly, and before I could ask him what was so amusing, Caiden yanked me off the stool. I squealed in shock when he threw me over his shoulder. “Put me down!” I yelled at Caiden. “You’re such a fucking child!”

Christian laughed. “While you were lost in your text with Axel, Caiden and I decided to do something fun with you today.” He smiled at me when I glowered at him, Caiden’s shoulder digging painfully into my stomach. “How does the zoo sound?”

My eyes brightened. I loved animals. Instantly, I stopped fighting. “Really?” I asked him, momentarily forgetting about the fact that Caiden was purposely bouncing his knees to annoy me further.

Christian’s smile softened. “Really, baby.”

I slapped my hands on Caiden’s back. “Will you stop fucking bouncing?!” I shouted at him.

“Fuck!” Caiden shouted as Christian laughed. “Christ, woman, that hurt!”
