And if my Angel thought his weddings were bad, I would have to make sure she never saw one of his funerals.

Kaylie, Becks and Janet were laughing softly where they stood on the other side of the deck across from their husbands. Kirsten had asked all the girls to stand with her, but the two extremely pregnant bride matrons were lending their support from comfy seats.

“Do you take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold, until death do you part?”

I stared right into my Angel’s gorgeous eyes as I answered without hesitation. Hell, I barely let him get the words out I answered so fast.

“I do.”

“And do you, beautiful but foolhardy woman, take this son-of-a-bitch to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, until death do you part? Now keep in mind, I can always arrange for you to be widowed if you do decide you want to try an older man for a change. We have a lot going for us, you know. Stamina for one thing.”

Angel blinked at him, her pretty eyes wide.

“I do.” She looked a bit confused. “To the first part.”

“Ah, such a shame. Well, you leave me no choice. By the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.” He smirked at me and winked. “After I do.”

He dipped Kirsten back and laid one on her. Without tongue. It was a good thing too, because I already wanted to ram my boot up his ass.

He’d taken his act a little too far today. I was not amused. But I was too eager to kiss my bride to let him sidetrack me.

I grabbed his shoulder and pulled my startled looking wife away from him and in for a kiss. I kissed her long and hard, and I did use tongue. She was staring at me a few moments later when I lifted my head.

“What just happened?”

I grinned at her.

“We got married.”

“Yes, but—”

I scooped her up and carried her down the aisle while our friends and family went wild. I wanted to be alone with her. Just for a minute. Just to catch our breath.

I carried her into the bedroom on the first floor and set her on her feet again. I stared down at her, marveling at how pretty she was.

“What are you doing?”

“Nothin’.”

I pressed her against the wall and nuzzled her neck.

“Why did he kiss me?”

“He’s a colorful character. Do you want me to punch him for you?”

I was grinning but I meant it. I’d gladly punch him. And Preacher would not mind all that much. He liked a brawl as much as the rest of us.

But I doubted my Angel wanted a brawl on her wedding day. Plus, it was too risky with women and children present. We kept our families safe from violence, not the other way around.

Still, I’d be more than happy to toss his ass into the lake.

“No! It’s just…”

“What is it, Angel?”

“I married you, right? Not the other guy?”

I burst into laughter.

“Yes, sweetheart. You are my wife.” I pushed against her, unable to resist the urge to rub my body into hers. I groaned as our bodies made contact. Just a little preview of what was happening later. “And I’m your husband.”

“Oh. Good.”

She nodded to herself. It was the cutest damn thing I’d seen in my life. I was about to tell her so when the door burst open and Cal stood there grinning with Drake and Mac.

“Nah uh! You can’t ditch your own party!”

“What the fuck?”

I was surrounded and dragged out of the room, kicking and screaming. Well, not kicking. Not with Angel so close. But I put up a fight.

I saw the girls crowding into the room behind me, dragging my beautiful bride out.

“Come on, Kirsten! It’s time to party!”

Chapter 38

Kirsten

“So, he performed your wedding too?”

Molly nodded, holding her belly. She was so tiny and round and pretty that she looked like a doll. After only a few days, I adored her already. She was sweet, yes, but she also had a backbone and a quiet strength I admired. I’d liked her from the moment we met.

“Is he always like that?”

She giggled.

“I think so.”

“He’s a horny old goat,” Janet piped up from where she was sitting with Sally a few feet away. She had Sally’s legs on her lap and was rubbing them. I smiled at the two of them. They really felt like sisters.

I didn’t know how it had happened so fast. But for the first time since I was a little girl, I had a family. It had been my little girl and me for so long, but I found I had room in my heart for every one of my new sisters.

“I think he’s handsome,” Becky offered. The rest of us agreed. With his white hair, broad shoulders and leather jacket, Preacher was a very striking figure. “Don’t tell Whiskey I said that.”
