Running his hands up and down her thighs, he stroked her clit, sucking it into his mouth. He did use his teeth, but he was careful as he did so. He sensed the build-up inside her, as her orgasm started and he guided her, sending her over the edge, into the first of many orgasms he planned to give her, tonight alone.

Layla didn’t hold back. She gave him everything.

His cock threatened to punch its way out of his pants, but he kept in control of himself. Ignoring his own needs and instead focusing on this woman before him. He’d never cared for a woman before. Never worried about her needs. For the longest time, he’d been a selfish man, a horrible vampire.

“That was amazing,” she said, after he stopped, when he saw she couldn’t handle any more.

He smiled at her and licked his lips. The taste of her was … everything. What was it about this woman?

Layla sat up and moved to straddle him. She cupped his face, and he was a little surprised by her reaction to him. He was used to women always asking permission. Layla didn’t need him to tell her what to do. He loved that she touched him, explored him.

The sound of the bell tolling in the distance made him groan.

“Ignore it,” Layla said.

“You want us to ignore the bell?”

“Why not? I’m not a wolf. I don’t have to go out and enjoy the feast while they try to convince a whole load of women to fuck them. I’m not interested.”

“What about your wolf?” he asked.

“I don’t have a wolf. Lewis isn’t mine. He’ll find his true mate. I want to stay here with you.”

“Your parents might show up,” he said.

Layla smiled and bit her lip. “Would you like to see my bedroom? I … I’ve never had a guy in my room before.”

Alexander stood, wrapping his arms around her, holding her against his body. She quickly crossed her legs around his back, as well as her arms around his neck.

He chuckled. “Afraid of heights?”

“A little. Please, don’t drop me.”

“I wouldn’t do anything of the sort.”

She chuckled, but he heard the slight panic to it. He made his way toward the stairs.

“Am I too heavy?” she asked.

“Sweetheart, I’m a vampire. Nothing is too heavy for me.”

“Hey,” she said, glaring at him, but it looked so cute.

“You’re not too heavy.” She wasn’t.

Layla felt right in his arms. She gave him directions to her bedroom and he followed them, finding the right room quite easily. Stepping inside, he knew instantly this was her room. The walls were a pastel pink, and the bed was a crisp white.

“This is my room,” she said.

He lowered her to the bed and stood.

She had a desk against the far wall with a mirror overlooking the bed. She didn’t have any posters, but he saw lots of pictures of her with Elle. He noticed there didn’t appear to be any with her parents. Alexander had never seen them before either, which was strange.

“Elle is your best friend?”

“Yes, we were like sisters when she moved here. She was sixteen.”

He saw the bond between the two.

“When did you move here?” he asked.

Brandon’s pack accepted petitions from humans to join his pack for their protection. There were only a few humans that knew of the paranormal world. Those that did, found it difficult to continue living a normal life. Once they had been awakened and seen everything there was to see, it was hard to go back.

“I … a long time ago. I can’t remember when. I feel like I’ve always been here.”

He frowned and turned toward her. “You don’t remember coming here?”

“No. I think I might have been born here. My parents don’t like talking about it. It’s something they refuse to dwell on. They said it’s for our safety.”

“That makes sense.” He still found it odd that her parents didn’t talk about it. “This is your home. They’re your family.”

“Yes, they are. Most of them hate me because I’m human.”

“No, I doubt that.” He couldn’t see a reason to hate her at all.

Chapter Five

The Following Night

Layla giggled as Alexander snuck into her bedroom window. Her parents were downstairs watching television. She could just about hear in the distance.

She was pretty sure they must have heard something, and she pressed a finger to her lips, pretending to shush him. “They’re going to get suspicious.”

As if on cue, her mother called up, asking if she was all right.

She rushed to the door, opening it. “Yeah, Mom, I’m fine. Just stubbed my toe. I’m fine, though.” Closing the door, she turned back to Alexander, who was now sitting on her bed.

Layla had already changed into her pajamas for the evening. Alexander had spent most of last night with her, only leaving when he sensed the sun coming up. He didn’t want to be trapped in her bedroom for the day, for fear of scaring her parents.
