Beast nodded.

Laurent blinked, not moving either. “Your shirt is so intensely soft. What is that fabric?” he asked in the end and pulled down his pajama pants.

Beast kept his eyes on Laurent’s face, but that didn’t help much, as he was treated to the wonderful image of Laurent’s shoulders and neck shifting in the most erotic way possible. Or so he thought. “It’s... combed cotton. My nerves got fucked up during the fire, so I don’t like rough clothes around the scars,” he said in the end. It was a good thing his legs were in a much better shape, or he wouldn’t be able to comfortably wear jeans.

Laurent dressed quickly, covering the glorious body with boxer briefs, then jeans and a T-shirt stating ‘So many books, so little time’. Then came the leather jacket, and Laurent grabbed his glasses, only reminding Beast that he’d been putting off their visit to the doctor, because he felt like sulking every time he thought about being alone with Laurent outside of the clubhouse.

“Almost done.” Laurent started rubbing some cream into his face, but then glanced at Beast. “Do you need to rub the scars with cream? Does it hurt when someone touches you?”

No one touched Beast.

He cleared his throat. It was such a private question it took him aback at first, but hadn’t he just removed a facial mask off Laurent’s face? It required a degree of intimacy that needed to be reciprocated. “I do. It makes my skin feel better. And some areas are more sensitive than others, that’s all.”

“Make sure you never put this mask on it.” Laurent shuddered with a scowl and threw out the whole tube into a little box he used for trash. Beast needed to get him an actual trash can. In fact, there were many convenience items missing from Laurent’s bedroom, since it had been Beast’s storage closet plus an occasional place for Knight to crash. If Laurent was to stay, maybe it was time to get him his own chair, or perhaps a small desk?

“I won’t. I’m pretty sure I’d need someone to help me if I did.”

Laurent smiled at him and walked out of the room with his hands in his pockets, looking cool and casual, as if he hadn’t crashed into Beast’s life covered in blood and dressed in historical clothes just two weeks ago. “Well, you know who to call if you make that mistake.”

Beast laughed. “Maybe I should borrow that mask after all.”

Laurent glanced at him over the shoulder and wiggled his eyebrows, his face still slightly flushed. “Maybe you should.”

Beast was still on the fence about this whole thing, unsure whether Laurent flirting back was just a joke, because if it was then the pains of what he’d have to go through definitely wouldn’t be worth it.

But when they walked out of the clubhouse and reached the garage where all the other members were waiting for him already, he thought that he’d much rather get closer by riding a bike together.

Laurent looked around, nodding at all the other guys who already sat on their motorcycles. “Are we going on bikeback?”

“Yes. How do you like my big metal horse?” Beast asked, leading the way to a large motorcycle in black and silver, made unique by three vicious dog heads at the front.

Laurent’s eyes settled on the steel decoration, and he ran his fingers over the black leather seat. “It’s horrific,” he said in a way that made it unclear whether Laurent meant it as a compliment or criticism.

Joker laughed, leaning forward on his bike and gently nudged Gray with his foot. Having only recently come back from a dirty job in NYC, Gray was now getting to know Laurent, and so far it seemed to be going smoothly, mostly because Gray was the type of man who took his time to make an opinion. Maybe that was the reason for him going gray, back when he was just twenty one. Old soul and all that.

With the precious stones and jewelry he came back with securely tucked in the hidden safe, Gray was finally allowed to relax, which in his case meant sipping tea and listening to people who were willing to talk around him. Beast felt almost guilty about bothering him already, but despite his quiet nature, Gray cared about the club very deeply and had seemed eager to hear Beast’s case.

Beast opened his arms, trying to not be offended by Laurent’s statement. “You don’t have to go.”

“No, no! I want to! But… How do I drive it?”

Rev smirked and put on his helmet. “Boy thinks he’s gonna drive your bike?”

Beast raised his eyebrows and passed a spare helmet to Laurent. “You don’t. You hold on to me while I do the work.”

Knight started cackling so loudly Beast wanted to slap the back of his head. “That’s what he said.”
