Beast tapped his fingers against the table and leaned back, watching all the members. “Now that you know everything, we can vote. Do you want me to take over after King?” he asked, steadily looking at the faces of his brothers. Their prospect, Jake wasn’t present because of his status and because they hadn’t agreed yet whether he should be told about the pact in the first place. For now, there were more important things to deal with.
Knight was the first to declare his support, and as each subsequent member voted for Beast becoming the club president, the atmosphere eased. Gray was the last one in line, and the only one of the men of whose decision Knight was not entirely sure, but he too supported Beast with a soft-spoken agreement.
Beast’s shoulders relaxed as soon as his status has been confirmed, and he took the President’s patch from the middle of the table. He then decided he wanted Rev, the oldest and most reliable of the men to keep his position as Sergeant-at-arms for the club. His gaze then wandered, stopping on Knight, who leaned back in the chair, unsure what to expect.
“Will you be my VP?” Beast asked.
Heat flared in Knight's chest. “Will we excavate the bodies?”
Joker snorted. “Are you guys gonna exchange vows now?”
Laurent rubbed his face. “Wouldn’t it be better to leave those bodies to their eternal rest?”
Knight frowned. “There’s history in that unmarked grave!”
Beast waved his hand. “Fine. We don’t have any cargo coming this month, and I will need to make my own arrangement with Mr. Magpie now that King’s gone. We can inform the authorities of those bodies in the meantime.”
Not everyone was on board with police sniffing around the clubhouse, but at the end of the day, they all knew that just a few tests in the lab would establish the skeletons as much older than the biker club and clear them of any suspicion.
Knight folded his arms on his chest with a smile. He would now purposefully sign up to the forum for William Fane’s fans to shove all the evidence into their stupid faces. Especially that crazyass Count, who had Fane’s fucking face tattooed on his chest. He’d show all those ‘Faneatics’ what kind of man their idol really was, so there would be no doubt as to Laurent Mercier’s role in the murders—or rather lack of it. Their family name would be finally cleared.
Gray glanced around the table. “With Davy out of the game for a longer time, King dead… isn’t it time to think about patching in our prospect? Only six of us now are in working order. There’s hangarounds, but that’s not even close to being the same.”
Knight laughed. “I don’t know. He seems to love prospecting.”
Joker threw a lighter at Knight. “You just like him sucking your dick.”
“As if you don’t!”
Beast slammed his hand on the table. “One step at a time. First, Mr. Magpie and business, then a steady stream of parties, then excavations, and only then, we can think about Jake.”
Knight could live with that. “Can I suggest moving excavations before parties, prez?”
“No.”
Knight shrugged. It was worth trying.
