“Sweet dreams, Charlie girl.”

CHAPTER

FIFTEEN

Charlotte

I’ve been lying here in his arms wide awake for about ten minutes. I don’t want to move. I don’t want my time with him to end. I also don’t want to face my little sister. I know she came home last night. She would have called me to let me know otherwise. She couldn’t have missed that his car was in the driveway when she got home or that my bedroom door was shut. Audrey is smart.

I don’t have guys stay over. In fact, last night was the first time I’ve ever slept next to a man all night long. I’ve dated, but nothing serious, and I was always ready to get back to my space. It’s not lost on me that I let Spencer into said space and did so without complaint.

“I can hear you thinking,” he says before kissing my bare shoulder. The one he spent the entire night snuggled up against. “Morning, baby.”

His sleep-laced voice washes over me, and my body heats. What is it about this man that makes me want him… crave him like I do?

“Morning.”

“What are we doing today?” he asks, taking me by surprise.

I want to roll over and face him, but I need to brush my teeth. Instead, I try to wiggle out of his hold. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asks.

“I have to pee and brush my teeth.”

“Kiss me first.”

“Did you not hear me say that I need to brush my teeth?” I ask.

“Not yet. I need a kiss.”

The next thing I know, he’s got me on my back as he settles between my naked thighs. At some point last night, he lost his jeans and is wearing nothing but his boxer briefs. He drops his elbows on either side of my head and softly brushes my hair out of my eyes. “Kiss me, Charlie.”

His cock is hard as it rests against my pussy, the hussy that’s already wet and aching for him. Instead of arguing, I kiss him. I can’t resist him. It’s a slow sweet kiss, no tongue, thankfully. When he pulls back, he kisses the tip of my nose and rolls back to the mattress. “Hurry back.”

I nod and rush to climb out of bed and scurry to the bathroom. Thankfully, I have an en suite, so I don’t have to venture out of my bedroom and face my little sister. Not yet, anyway. I do my business and quickly brush my teeth. I dig around under the sink until I find one of the extra toothbrushes I get from the dentist twice a year and lay it out on the counter for Spencer before I head back to him.

“I laid a toothbrush on the counter for you,” I tell him as I make my way to the bed.

“Thanks, babe.” He stands and stretches his arms over his head before coming to meet me halfway. His arm reaches out and stops me from walking past as he leans down and places a kiss on top of my head.

I move to sit on the edge of the bed. I don’t know what happens next. So, I wait for him to wrap up his business. It's not long before the bathroom door opens. In a few long strides, he’s standing in front of me. With his index finger, he lifts my chin until we’re eye to eye.

“There she is.” He leans down and kisses me. It’s slow and deep and does nothing to tamp down my desire for this man. “That’s a good-morning kiss,” he says, pulling away and standing back to his full height. “What are we doing today?” he asks again.

“Don’t feel obligated to stay,” I tell him.

“Charlotte.” His voice is hard, and I don’t want to look at him. “Look at me.” I know that if I don’t, he’s not going to let this go, so I lift my head and meet his eyes. “You are not an obligation.” I nod. “Tell me you understand that.”

“I understand. I didn’t mean it how it sounded, just that you don’t have to hang around if you have something to do.”

“You, Charlie. You are what I have to do today. I want to spend the day with you.”

“You had to have had plans,” I tell him.

“Nothing that can’t be pushed to the back burner. Picking up dry cleaning, some laundry, mundane things that can wait.”

“So you want to hang out?”

He nods. “With you.” He tucks my hair behind my ear. “Do you want me to make you breakfast or take you out for breakfast?” he asks.

I sigh. “I’m certain my sister is up and waiting to drill me with a million questions about why you’re here and why you stayed with me last night.”

He grins. “Then let me get dressed, and we can go answer her questions.”
