When he came, he planted the soles of his feet on the floor and bridged up hard into my mouth, straining to give me everything and forcing me to take it. I just swallowed and swallowed, and stroked the taut globes of his ass as he shuddered through his finish. Then he lowered himself gently to the floor, turned over and curled into a fetal position. I wrapped myself around his body, determined to ignore my painful erection until later on. I’d show him exactly how much I’d missed him then, but right now I was content just to wrap him up and fall back into sleep.

No dreams, I told myself. Not while I’m with Jamie.

Chapter 2

(JAMIE)

EMERGING from my room the morning after the fight was quite an adventure. I had no idea what I expected to find on the other side of the door. Kage peeked out over my head, and after we’d both determined the coast was clear, Kage slipped into the bathroom with one of my towels. I proceeded on to the kitchen.

Fortunately, there were no party stragglers sacked out on the sofa or floor. The place was a wreck, but other than that, everything looked normal. I grabbed the coffee pot and filled it at the sink, but when I turned the water off, I heard Kage’s loud curse from the bathroom. I’d forgotten that the shower water would scald your skin off if someone turned on the water in the kitchen.

“You just burned your boyfriend.” Layla padded into the room, bleary-eyed from sleep.

“Oh, well. He could use some toughening up.”

Layla pulled the orange juice out of the refrigerator, poured herself a glass, and leaned against the counter. Even first thing in the morning with disheveled hair, she was a sight to behold. A battered gray Mickey Mouse tee that was much too large for her slight frame fell seductively off of one shoulder. She smiled at me as she sipped her juice.

“So everything’s good between you and the culero now?”

“If you don’t stop calling him that, I’m going to tell everyone at school you have fake breasts.”

“What? I do not have fake breasts!”

I shrugged. “I’m not above lying to get what I want. From now on, it’s Kage or Michael to you. Got it?”

Layla’s glass was in danger of breaking when she set it down on the counter a little too hard. “Fine. As long as you don’t think it means I like him. I still can’t forget how he treated you before, Jamie. I don’t trust him.”

There was that word again. Trust. Apparently it meant something very different to each of us.

Moving in close, I dropped my voice and spoke near her ear. “Just because you like things all nice and tame in the bedroom doesn’t mean everyone does. Maybe you should try letting loose every now and then. Though now that you’re dating Trey, that may not be an option. I’m not sure if he’s got it in him to be forceful.”

“Are you actually criticizing my boyfriend for being respectful of me?”

“Absolutely not. I’m just pointing out that different people like different things, that’s all.”

Trey appeared in the doorway. “Can’t leave you two alone for a minute, huh?” He removed his round glasses and cleaned them with his shirttail the way he did when he was nervous.

Layla pulled quickly away from me and hurried over to throw her arms around Trey and plant a noisy kiss on his cheek. “Trust me. The only reason Jamie and I need a chaperone is to keep us from ripping each other’s throats out.”

“You got that right.” I opened the refrigerator and gathered up a carton of eggs, a package of bacon, a jar of peach preserves, and the butter tray. Balancing the eggs on my forearm, I used my hip to close the refrigerator door. Then I set the items down on the counter beside the stove, barely saving the preserves jar from tipping onto the floor. “Trey, I predict that within six months you’re gonna want to duct tape that mouth of hers.”

“I doubt that very seriously. Her mouth is much too talented to tape up.” The self-proclaimed geeky gamer wouldn’t have dared to say something so sexually charged a few months ago, but then I knew from experience that Layla could be a potent testosterone booster.

Braden surged around the corner and into the kitchen, pulling a wrinkled t-shirt on over his head. His eyes were still foggy from sleep, his hair a disheveled mass of whorls and spikes. “What the hell, Atwood?”

I held up my hands in mock terror. “Whatever it is, I didn’t do it.”

“Yes, you did.” He came to stand in front of me, looking genuinely angry. “You held out on me. I’ve been a fan of MMA for years, bought every pay-per-view, and gone to every live event I could. In all that time, the closest I’ve gotten to meeting any of the fighters is when they’re doing fan selfies in the crowd. Then you come along with your I Hate MMA, and MMA is not a real sport. And suddenly you’ve got fighters coming to visit you? Sparring with you in the living room? Not to mention you’ve dated a supermodel. I don’t get it. I would sell my soul to the devil to hang out with MMA fighters, and it just falls right into your lap. What have you done to deserve all of that? You don’t even appreciate it.”
