“Get in our bed,” I demand all but dragging her to it. She lies down in the center of it and spreads her legs for me. I can see how wet she is, and I need the taste of her on my tongue. I bury my face between her thighs. She bucks and thrashes under me. I pump two fingers in and out of her tight hole, gathering her juices before dragging them down to her ass. She tenses up but I just tease her there, not entering her. Not yet. One day I’ll own that hole too. I move back up her body and slam my cock into her. She cries out my name and I can’t stop the freight train of an orgasm that’s building inside of me. Because of her.

“Balder!” she screams as she comes, her nails digging in to my pecs. I fill her with my seed yet again. At the rate we’re going, there’s no way she won’t be knocked up soon. God, how I want that. I want her tied to me forever. I go to pull out of her, but she stops me. “Stay,” she whispers, wrapping her arms around me.

How can I say no to that?

I hated going back to Juneau this morning, but it had to be done. I have meetings upon meetings. I’ve already decided that in order for this to work with Summer, I’m going to have to suck it up and make the commute via plane more often. Summer can’t do her work from here, and I still have a bit of time left on my two-year term, it’s the only thing that makes sense right now.

I’ve been texting with a moving company in Anchorage about getting Summer moved into my place. Hers is too small for a family and it’s just a rental so again, I’m just thinking logical.

“Mr. Jorgensen?” Josh says, knocking on the doorjamb of my open office door.

“Yes, Josh?”

“Your mother is downstairs waiting for you.”

“Did she have an appointment?” I ask, not remembering anything about Mom coming to Juneau. Fuck, Summer has been occupying my every waking thought. There’s no room for anything else. I chuckle at that.

“No. She wants to take you to lunch. You are free.”

“Thank you,” I say, standing. I put my suit jacket on before exiting my offices.

I make my way downstairs and find my mom chatting with Gina, the receptionist.

“Hey Gina. Mom,” I say, kissing her on the cheek.

“Let’s go to the Pier,” she says, mentioning a popular seafood restaurant. “I want some shrimp scampi.”

“Of course,” I say, leading her outside. It’s right down the street from the state house.

Once we are seated and have drinks, I close my menu and look across the table at her.

“What?” she asks.

“So what do I owe this unexpected visit to?” I ask.

“Can’t a mother take her son out for an impromptu lunch?”

“Not when that son is six hundred miles away.”

“Alright… fine. Tell me more about Summer.”

“I knew it,” I say laughing.

“Well, what did you expect? You’ve never brought anyone home to us before. You called her your soulmate, and she looks like she’s seen a ghost whenever we’re around. Not when she’s around you, mind you. I was watching. At home and at the charity event your brother threw.”

“What do you mean?”

“When we were around she looked a deer in the headlights. Frozen semi-smile on her face and robotic answers to the questions we asked. However, when she thought no one but you was looking at her or speaking to her, she looked radiant, like…”

“Pure sunshine,” I say.

“Yes. That’s exactly how I’d describe it. So tell me what I need to know to help you fix her.”

“She’s not broken, Mom,” I reply defensively. Mom reaches her hand across the table and places it on top of mine.

“Oh, Balder. You're in love with her. You can’t see what I see.”

“Her childhood wasn’t the greatest. She doesn’t get our family, how we can be so close. She has a brother, but he’s older and in the Army.”

“You’ll have something in common with him then. He’ll be your brother-in-law after all.”

“How did you know?”

“Do you think there’s anything in this family I don’t know about?” I don’t say anything, I just stare at her. “Stacy called me. Torran told her you had an elite ring overnighted.”

“I did.”

“Good. Now that I know what Summer needs everything will be perfect.”

“What does she need?”

“Love, my dear son. Love— and if there’s one thing we Jorgensen’s have in abundance, it’s love.”

Mom’s not wrong about that. We’re kind of known for it.

Summer Frost will be so fucking loved, she won’t know what hit her.

CHAPTER 13

SUMMER

My heart is breaking. It is literally splitting in two, and it is my own fault. It started yesterday when I got home from work and found men in my house. They were packing up my things to move them into Balder's house, and I freaked out. I can’t stop replaying the aftermath in my head.
