She knew without a doubt that if she treated her baby like her nanny did her, she’d be on the right track.

Her cell phone alarm went off, letting her know the time had come to see the results. Picking up the stick, she read the back of the box, and sure enough, she was pregnant.

Pregnant with Brice’s baby.

Opening the door, she was surprised to see him there, waiting. He sat perched on the bed, his hands on his knees.

He looked totally calm, ready for whatever life would throw at him.

“It says I’m pregnant. We’re going to have a baby.”

“It does?”

She nodded. “Yes, we’re going to be parents.”

“Holy shit, this is big.”

“It’s something.”

Brice got up, and she tensed, waiting.

“You don’t believe me, do you?” he asked.

“About?”

In answer, he got down on one knee.

“Brice, what are you doing?”

“Simple, I’m asking you, the woman that I love, to be my wife.”

“Is this because of the baby?” she asked.

“No, hell no. It’s not because of the baby. It’s because I love you more than anything else in the world. You are my life. My love. My everything. There’s nowhere else I want to be, and I certainly don’t want to be without you.” He cupped her cheek.

She believed him.

Every single word he spoke, it sounded like the truth to her.

Licking her dry lips, she stared down at the stick.

“What do we do?” she asked.

“Well, first, I think it’s pretty easy. You agree to be my wife.”

“Wait. We … we need to get this confirmed before anything else,” she said.

“No. I want you to become my wife, regardless.”

“What about the baby?”

“I care about our baby. I love you, Danielle. I have done for some time now, but all I care about, is you belonging to me. That’s what I want. You and me, and we can face everything together.

“You’re being serious.” There was no denying the truth, the passion, the love within his voice.

He pulled her in for a kiss.

“Yes. I’m being serious. About everything. About you. I will spend the rest of my life proving it to you.”

She didn’t want nor did she need to hear anymore.

Gripping the back of his head, she kissed him, hard, moaning as his hands roved down to cup her ass.

She felt the hard ridge of his cock against her stomach.

“You do realize this is going to give you bigger tits,” he said.

“Shut up! How can you say that at a time like this?”

“I’m proving to you that I want you for more than just a baby. I want you for you.” He pulled her in close, pressing his lips against hers. “You realize you won’t be allowed any other man. I don’t share.”

“If I’m going to be marrying you, Brice Ivory, you better learn to keep it in your pants around all women,” she said.

“I intend to. From the moment I met you, there hasn’t been anyone else that I want, nor will there ever be. I love you. Only you. For now, forever, for all eternity. I mean it.” All playfulness left him.

She stared at him and waited.

He was being serious.

She believed every single word he spoke.

“You really mean this.”

“With all my heart and soul. I mean it.”

“Okay, then, let’s get married,” she said.

She couldn’t believe she said it, but as he kissed her, she knew she wouldn’t take the words back. Not now, not ever.

Chapter Eleven

News just in, folks, Brice Ivory and Danielle Knox are now one. That’s right. You are now looking at the power couple Mr. and Mrs. Ivory. He’s off the market and from the loved-up pictures we’re seeing, it’s a long-time deal.

Brice wrapped his arms around his wife’s waist. One hand rested on her stomach, the other just beneath her breasts.

While her cookbook went to the editing department, he’d been able to steal her away to the Caribbean for their honeymoon.

“I can’t believe we’re here and that we’re married,” she said. “There were so many people.”

He chuckled against her neck. “I didn’t recognize half of them.”

“I saw how happy our parents are. They were lapping up the attention as if they planned this right from the start.”

“I guess in a way it ended better than they ever realized.”

“My dad can’t wait to show you the ropes,” Danielle said. “He’s so happy to have a son.”

He cupped her cheek and turned her head to look at him. “I didn’t marry you for the company. I didn’t marry you because of what our parents wanted.”

“I know.”

“I married you because I love you. I love that we’re making a life together. A family. I want it all.”

“How can you change so fast?” she asked. “One day you were the kind of guy that didn’t settle down, and yet here we are, pregnant, and settling. I don’t … I’m scared.”

He smiled. He turned her so that she faced him.
