Wiley unbuckled his belt as he stepped closer to me. When he realized that my height sitting down wasn’t proportionate to the height of his waist, he grunted in annoyance.

“I’m better down on my knees,” I told him as I gazed up at him, batting my eyelashes in a pleading manner. I felt sick to my stomach saying that to him, but I had to do everything in my power to get him to bend to my will, while making him think that he was doing things by his own decision.

Wiley looked unsure. His eyes shifted around the warehouse.

“I won’t tell if you won’t,” I whispered to him, shooting him a wink. I was so damn close. All he had to do was fall for the bait, and he was halfway there with his belt undone.

Wiley smirked and took a pocket knife out of his back pocket. He pressed it against my cheek as he leaned close.

“No funny business or I’ll cut out your tongue,” he warned me.

I didn’t look fazed, even if my adrenaline was racing. I knew he wouldn’t kill me. If Deviau didn’t get one last chance at getting the money from me, he would kill Wiley with his own bare hands.

“I’d rather be able to use it,” I said in an even tone, my lips curling up in a coy smile.

Wiley chuckled and shook his head at me as he drew the blade away from my skin.

“What a naughty girl,” he muttered before cutting the ropes off my ankles. He got rid of the ones around my wrists and grabbed the back of my neck, forcing me down onto my knees in front of him. He started undoing his jeans, and the moment he worked them open, I saw my chance.

I dealt a clean punch against his groin, making him double over in pain. I quickly rolled out of the way, pushing myself to my feet. While he was doubled over, I punched him again, slamming my knuckles against the side of his neck. I missed the right spot, but it still knocked the breath out of him.

Wiley stumbled to the side, grimacing in pain. He then gritted his teeth as he whirled around to face me.

“You little bitch!” he snarled before lunging at me.

Benjamin’s words rang in my head. Don’t let him get his arms around me. Don’t let him take me to the ground. If he got the upper hand, it would be incredibly hard for me to break free from that.

I dodged Wiley as he tried to grab at me, hopping to the side. I tried to strike him in the face to disorient him, but he ducked his head out of the way just in time. I hit air instead, throwing me off balance and making me stumble toward him.

“Got you!” Wiley shouted as he grabbed the front of my shirt in tight handfuls. He yanked me closer, our noses nearly brushing. “You think you can trick me, bitch? I’ll kill you!”

I stared at him with wide eyes, my heart threatening to burst out of my chest. The sound of its beat roared in my ears, filling my head.

Wiley slung me to the ground.

I landed on my side with a gasp of pain, an ache radiating through my body. My arm rang with pain, and all I could do was cradle it and try to crawl back away from Wiley as he approached me. Panic thundered in my mind as I tried to think about what to do. I was already going against one of Benjamin’s warnings. I had to do something to get me out of this predicament.

Wiley whipped out his pocketknife and approached me with a devilish look on his face.

“You messed with the wrong man,” he growled.

Everything Benjamin told me filtered through my mind in a second. The moment Wiley hovered above me, I struck my foot out, kicking upward to strike him right under his rib cage where his kidney was located.

Wiley cried out in pain, dropping the knife and holding his side as he collapsed on the ground next to me.

I scrambled to my feet, ignoring the pain that shot through me. I didn’t care how badly I was hurt. I needed to get out of here before Wiley managed to get back up to his feet. I probably pissed him off enough for him to kill me, despite the consequences he would later suffer from at the hands of his boss.

“Alright, I’m back. See? I didn’t take an hour.” Justin’s voice sounded from the back of the warehouse as he strode through the door. He paused with a shocked look on his face when he saw me standing next to Wiley, who was laying on the ground in pain. “What the fuck?”

I drew in a steadying breath to keep myself from being too dizzy. I fought for my life. Now, I had to run for my life.
