When it’s all over, Maddox goes off to throw away the condom, and Dodge brings me a glass of water.

“Are you sure you haven’t had a threesome or foursome before?” Chase asks after I take a drink. “You were a pro.”

I laugh, and can’t help but notice that he looks impressed with my performance. “I’m sure. I guess you all just brought it out in me.”

Maddox comes back in and sits next to me on the bed. “That was amazing. So good,” he says, placing a kiss on my shoulder.

“Yes, it was.” I stay next to him for a minute or so, sipping my water as he caresses my back in a distracted sort of way, but the silence becomes awkward. The twins have put their pants back on, and Chase returns after having left the room.

“Are you hungry?” Dodge asks.

“No, thanks. I think I’ll get going soon.” I slide off the bed, suddenly feeling self conscious again about going downstairs to retrieve my clothes.

“What?” Maddox says, standing up to follow me. “You can’t go yet.”

I turn back to him, startled by the disappointment in his voice. “Why not?”

“We thought you’d spend the night,” Diesel says.

“If you’re tired, we don’t have to do anything besides sleep,” Dodge says.

Maddox takes my hand. “But if you’re up for more, then we are too.”

“You sound like you’re about to hump her leg,” Chase says to his brother. Turning to me, he says, “Jade, we’d love for you to stay, but there’s absolutely no pressure. Tonight was great, and if you’re up for it, we can get together again tomorrow night.”

“About that …” I say, not sure how to put my thoughts into words. Now that we’ve all had our fun, it does seem easier to approach the topic, though. “I’m not sure we should get together again.”

“I thought you had a good time,” Chase says.

“I did,” I rush to say. “The best time ever, to be honest, but I’m looking for a man who’s interested in settling down. Someone who wants to start a family. It doesn’t seem right to spend time with you when we want different things.”

“What makes you think we aren’t looking for that with someone too?” Chase asks.

“I don’t know. I just assumed …”

“Is it because of what we do for work?” Dodge asks.

I really wish I’d put my clothes back on before starting this conversation. I feel naked in more ways than one. “I hadn’t really thought about it, but I guess that’s the reason.”

“Performing at the club is our job, not our life,” Diesel says. “We like you a lot. We think you’re someone special, and we’d like the chance to get to know you better.”

His declaration makes me feel warm inside, but I quickly remember that the issue isn’t so simple.

“Is there something else?” Chase asks. My thoughts must be written on my face.

“Even though I support what you do for work, I guess I can’t say I’m completely comfortable with it,” I confess. My family’s disapproval is forefront in my mind, but I can’t even bear to mention my parents while I’m here at the men’s house, fresh out of their bed.

“What we do at the club isn’t real for us,” Diesel says.

“We enjoy our work,” Dodge says, “but we don’t have feelings about anyone in the audience. The flirting and teasing in the show isn’t the real us, and it’s not what matters to us.”

They assume my issue with their work is about jealousy, and truth be told, that’s part of it too, so I don’t object.

“What we did here tonight is what’s real,” Maddox says. “You’re what’s real to us.”

When I don’t say anything else, Dodge steps in close and takes my hand in his, raising it to his lips and laying a kiss on my knuckles. “Stay the night, Jade,” he says, part question, part request.

Why do these particular men have to be so completely irresistible?

He looks into my eyes, and eventually I nod. They lead me back to the bed, and what follows becomes the newest best sex I’ve ever had in my life. Afterward, Chase and Diesel cuddle me between them, and I drift off to sleep imagining that I could actually have a future with these men.

The perfect amount

The next afternoon, I’m hanging pictures of happy adoptees on the wall of the shelter’s reception area when the Stanton brothers come in.

“Stalker alert!” I say, laughing, knowing that no one else is in earshot.

It’s only been a few hours since I last saw the men, just after the delicious breakfast I shared with them at their house this morning. And the even more delicious sex we had afterward.

“We’re here to take Barnes home,” Maddox says.

“You’re sure you’re ready to adopt? A dog is a big commitment.”

“As we discussed last night, we’re not afraid of commitment,” Chase says, his eyes piercing mine.
