My old laptop sat on my bed, and I thought about watching porn, but I didn’t. Instead I found myself in the bathroom, looking at the huge tub with bottles of soaps and bubble bath around it.

It was the middle of the day, but I didn’t care. I hadn’t taken a bubble bath since I was a child, and I’d loved them then. They had made me feel cozy and warm.

So I started one and stripped out of my clothes. Fucking Aidan. I couldn’t believe he wouldn’t let me kneel for him just because I’d rolled my eyes at him.

I lounged in the bath for over an hour before getting out, getting dressed, and cleaning up after myself. Plopping on the bed again, I opened my laptop but realized I didn’t know the Wi-Fi info and closed it. So I called Ian and complained about my punishments, then told him about the pool. “Maybe you can come and swim one day.”

“I can’t believe you’re living in a mansion.”

“It’s not a mansion.” But it was a beautiful home.

I kept myself busy until it was time to start dinner. I rummaged around and decided on fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and zucchini.

Aidan joined me about fifteen minutes before it was done.

“It smells good.” He looked at the stove. “I’ll definitely need to up my workouts.”

“I won’t cook like this all the time.” I didn’t tell him it was my mom’s favorite and that she taught me how to make the best gravy.

I loved that he sat at the table and allowed me to serve him. I made his plate first, and knew I always would, because I wanted to take care of him.

“Do you want wine?” he asked, and I frowned.

“I’ve never had it, and I heard it’s gross.”

“I forget how young you are.”

I could already read him, and I could tell he was uncomfortable with that fact. What mattered was that I was legal and knew what I wanted, so I didn’t understand his hesitation. I almost rolled my eyes but held off because I sure as shit didn’t want to be unable to kneel for him the next day as well.

He poured himself wine, and I got water before I sat at the table. Aidan went over some more of my responsibilities: laundry, washing bed linens twice a week, cleaning bathrooms, making the beds, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dishes, and meals. All standard stuff.

“I’ll add you to my car insurance,” he said, and my fork clattered to my plate.

“I don’t have a car.”

“I guess it’s a good thing I do. Two as a matter of fact. You can use the BMW.”

“Are you out of your mind?” jumped out of my mouth, and by the tic in his jaw, I could tell he wasn’t happy. “I’m sorry…I didn’t mean that, but I can’t drive your car.”

“How do you plan to do the shopping and run errands?”

“Um…I don’t know…a car service or something?”

He rolled his eyes, and I wondered why it was okay for him and not me but didn’t ask.

“That’s ridiculous. You’ll drive the car.”

“I don’t want to drive the car, but I want to do your shopping.”

“You’re not taking a car service.”

“What if I wreck?”

“Hence the reason you’ll be on the insurance.” He said it like it was the simplest thing, but to me, it wasn’t.

“That car is worth more than I could ever pay for.” Worth more than me.

Aidan sighed, and I could tell he was getting frustrated with me. “You won’t have to pay for it. You’ll be on the insurance. That’s what insurance is for. This is what I want, Finley. You’ll be responsible for shopping and dry cleaning or whatever else I need. You must be able to drive.” He paused, looked at me, and added, “It’s just a car. There’s no reason you can’t drive it. I saw your license when I brought you home the first time. Do you not like to drive?”

“I can do it. I haven’t done it a lot, but Ian used to have a car before it broke, and he taught me to drive it. I used that to get my license.”

“It’s settled, then. I trust you, and if something happens, all that will matter is that you’re okay.”

My cheeks flushed, my whole damn body, maybe. I felt warm all over and gooey inside and…cared for. I felt deliciously protected and important. “Yes…yes, Sir. And thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He took a bite, chewed and swallowed. “You’re a good cook. The gravy is wonderful.”

I smiled. Mom had been a good cook. She’d wanted to be a chef and had taught me so much. I loved cooking because of her. “Thank you,” I replied again. Then, because the mood needed to be lightened and because I really hoped he said yes, I added, “Should I do my chores naked every day?”
