She leaned into him and wrapped her tiny arms around his neck. “Will they make fun of me?”

“No, Baby girl. Never. All of my friends’ mates are kind Little girls. I’m confident they all wear diapers at times anyway. If you want to explain it to them, you can do so. If not, you don’t have to. They won’t judge you for being diapered.”

She sniffled. “My sister…”

“She will understand, too, Little one.” He held her like that for a while before she finally took a deep breath and pushed away from him.

“I’m okay now, Daddy.”

He cupped her face and kissed her. “You’re the most precious Little girl I’ve ever met. I’m so proud of you.”

She gave him a wan smile.

“Shall we go back to the living room?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

He picked her up and carried her, and she was grateful. She liked it when he carried her, and she liked how close she felt to him. She wanted to crawl under his shirt and be inside him, but that was silly, so she would settle for sitting on his lap.

No one said a word as the two of them returned and Felix settled her across his thighs again. Maybe they would be kind about her problem. Would the other Little girls be so kind, too?

Khloe didn’t say much as the men resumed talking. She mostly settled against her Daddy and listened. They were talking about her, which was unnerving, but there wasn’t anything she needed to add.

None of them had ever seen a wolf as large as her nor were they aware of any wolf being able to sense the presence of others at a distance—not an Alpha Protector and certainly not one of their mates.

She forced herself to be calm and not cry. She didn’t like being different. She didn’t want the attention. She wanted to be like all the other Little girls. Why did she have to stand out?

Finally everyone got up to leave. They were going to meet with some elders and try to get more information. They would come back in a few days.

Daddy kept Khloe in his arms and stepped onto the porch with the others.

When Owen, Talon, and Ezra left, Elias stayed behind. He smiled. “Leah is anxious to see you when you’re ready, Little one.”

Khloe perked up at that idea. “Can you bring her here to visit?”

He glanced at Felix. “If it’s okay with your Daddy.”

Daddy nodded. “Any time.” He chuckled. “You don’t even have to call first. Apparently Khloe will know when you’re coming,” he joked.

Elias laughed. “You deserve more time alone together before we invade your space.”

Khloe ignored their teasing. “Please, Daddy? Can they come for a little while and visit?” She was nervous about seeing her sister because neither of them had been the same when they’d lived in the valley, but other than the few differences Felix had pointed out to Khloe, she had to believe their initial awkwardness would dissipate quickly.

He patted her bottom. “I already said yes, silly girl.” He kissed her temple.

“I’ll bring her tomorrow,” Elias promised. He waved as he turned and leaped into the air, shifting before his paws hit the ground.

It was a gorgeous sight to behold. Khloe hadn’t even seen her own Daddy shift. She turned to him. “You haven’t shifted in front of me because you knew I would realize I’m too big.”

He lifted her hand and kissed her fingers as he reentered the house. “That’s true, Little one. I didn’t want to upset you. Being newly mated is challenging. You had a lot to deal with. There was no reason for me to alarm you and add to your stress. There must be a reason you are larger than other wolves, but I honestly don’t believe it’s a bad thing. Nothing we should worry about as far as your health is concerned.”

He carried her over to the piano and sat on the bench, turning her in his arms so she was facing the keys. “Play me something, Little one.” He kissed her neck.

She twisted her head around to look at him. “You’re trying to distract me.”

He grinned. “I am.”

She glared at him. “That’s not nice.”

“It’s not mean. I just know you’re panicking, and you have every right to be nervous and concerned. I’m also nervous and concerned. But your music calms you, and it calms me. I want you to play and sing for me so we can both relax.”

She bit her lip as she considered his words. He was being totally honest with her, so she couldn’t be angry. He even admitted he was also worried. Did Daddies worry?

He lifted her hands to the keys. “Play for me, Baby girl.”

“I’m up too high on your lap, Daddy. You have to let me sit on the bench.”

He chuckled. Instead of removing himself from the bench, he lowered her feet to the floor. It left her standing, but standing at the keys was far more manageable than sitting on his lap. At least she could reach them without bending so far at the waist. She couldn’t use the pedals this way, but she liked him at her back, so she would play without the pedals this time.
