Tears streamed down her face, and I brushed them away with the pads of my thumbs.

“I love you, princess.”

She laughed and shook her head. “I love you, too, Roger.”

I crushed my mouth to hers again. She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I picked her up and carried her into the living room.

“Where’s your bedroom?” I asked.

“Down the hall, last door on the left.”

I had never moved so fast in my entire life. Once we got into the bedroom, I slowly let her slide down my body until her feet hit the floor.

“I want to make love to you, Anna.”

She nodded and whispered, “Um, okay.”

Laughing, I kissed her on the forehead, then the tip of her nose, on each corner of her mouth, along her chin, and down her neck.

Her hands worked to undo my jeans while I reached for her shirt and pulled it over her head. She did the same with my shirt and giggled as she tossed it onto the floor. “Did you get dressed in the dark?”

I kissed down her neck and across her exposed breasts. “Something like that. I was in a hurry to get here.”

She laughed when I swept her off her feet and brought her over to the bed. After I set her down, she lay back and worked on her leggings while I kicked off my boots and pulled my jeans off.

“Commando again. I like this.”

“Again, was in a rush to get here.”

I covered her body with mine and kissed her once again. She wrapped her legs around me and tilted her hips.

I started to rise. “Let me make you come first.”

She pulled me back down. “No, I want you inside me, now.”

“But—”

Annalise put her finger against my lips and gave me a look that would have brought me to my knees had I been standing. “Please, Roger. Don’t make me beg.”

She’d never have to ask me twice.

Moving my hand between her legs, I played with her while our kiss deepened. No way was I going to be a savage and push inside of her, not until her body was ready.

Annalise wasn’t having any of it though. She reached between us and guided me to her entrance. “Roger…”

My name from her kiss-swollen lips was like a sonnet. I would never tire of hearing it.

“Okay, princess. We’ll do it your way.”

I slowly pushed inside of her, both of us groaning at the feel of our bodies connecting and becoming one.

“I’ve missed you,” she whispered against my chest, then she leaned up to kiss me.

I nuzzled my face into her neck and inhaled. She smelled like roses. It was such an intoxicating scent. “I’ve missed you like crazy, Anna.”

I moved slowly as we touched and kissed like it was our first time together.

“Don’t ever leave me, Annalise. Please.”

She framed my face with her hands and our eyes met. “I’m not going anywhere, Roger. I promise. I’m yours. I’ll always be yours.”

Something inside of me broke free. I moved my hips in a slow rotation, making Annalise gasp and lift her own hips.

“Yes,” she whispered. “Oh, God, yes.”

“That’s it, princess. Come for me.”

I lifted her leg and hooked it around my hip as I rolled again, pushing in deeper.

Her eyes snapped open and our gazes locked. One more thrust and I knew she was going to fall apart.

She arched her back and cried out my name as she squeezed and pulsed around my cock.

“Shit, Annalise…I’m going to come.”

Her hands fisted in the sheets and she looked up at me again. What I saw in her eyes practically made my heart burst from my chest.

She loved me—and it didn’t scare me. She was mine, and I was hers, and I had no intentions of ever letting her go.

“I love you,” we both said at the same time before I captured her mouth with mine and spilled myself inside of her.

I lay on my back and stared up at the ceiling while Annalise traced patterns on my chest. Everything in the world felt so right when she was in my arms.

“Roger…what made you think I was leaving?”

I glanced down at her head on my chest and ran my fingers through her wavy hair. “Truitt told me you were getting on a plane this afternoon and heading back to New York.”

She stilled. “Who told him that?”

“Patty called my mom, who called Saryn, who told Truitt he needed to find me. Truitt came over and woke up my drunk ass.”

She turned her head and rested it on the back of her hand. “You were drunk?”

“After you left last night, I downed a bottle of whiskey, and I think a bottle of gin, like an idiot. What I really wanted to do was come after you, but I wasn’t sure how to tell you I loved you.”

One of her brows arched up. “‘I love you, Annalise’ would have been a good place to start.”
