I’m so confused and then I realize that last minute I sent my mom a few pictures of the dresses I picked out because I wanted to make sure they would be appropriate. My mom must have gotten excited about them and shown her. That means in under two days my baby sister probably replaced her entire wardrobe in order to outshine anything I purchased.

I bite back a heated remark when Addison makes her way over and stops in front of us. A knowing smirk spreads across her face. If I didn’t actually love her perfect pink lipstick, I’d punch her in the face, but the lipstick doesn’t deserve violence.

No, that’s just Addison.

I look behind her. “Lose the groom already?”

Her laugh is like nails on a chalkboard. “No, I’m pretty good at hanging onto my fiancé.”

I dig my nails into Killian’s arm. He lets out a cough and jumps next to me, then pats my arm. “Lucky for me, huh?”

I grin up at him. Nice save. If we were dating, that would def be BJ territory, but we aren’t, for real. At all. So instead, I just smile up at him like he hung the moon and promised to buy me every star.

“Anyway…” Addison’s gaze falls to Killian. She licks her lips slowly like she wants him to notice and takes a step toward him that’s dangerously close to being improper. “Are you ready for the song your manager promised?”

“About that.” Killian puts one hand on his hip. “I was thinking of doing a duet. With your sister, since she loves singing so much.”

Killing him later.

Addison bursts out laughing just as my ex walks up in his stupid tan suit and unbuttoned white shirt as if he actually has pecs to show off. Give him a long gold chain and he’d look like he was part of the mafia. “What’s so funny?”

“Killian.” Addison locks eyes with me. “He’s going to have Scarlett sing with him.”

It’s his turn to chuckle after taking a sip of whiskey. “Scarlett can’t sing, I think the last time I heard her sing it was when she was drunk and our dog joined in and started whining with her.”

Yeah, and he’s horrible at sex but you don’t see me shouting it across the rooftops making a glitter sign or acknowledging that I was able to make a grocery list in the twenty seconds it took for him to finish.

Tears burn the backs of my eyes anyway. He left out the part that he had asked me to sing because he thought it was cute when I sang along to commercials and that Bruno would react every time.

I’m not sure if my entire body looks as hot as it feels right now, and I’m afraid to look at my own reflection. Rob may as well be sneering when he looks at how Killian has his arm around me.

“Baby…” He quickly looks away. “We should get back to our guests. Maybe it will give these two more time to practice so Scarlett doesn’t embarrass herself. I would hate that for her, and for you on your special weekend.”

“Good idea!” Addison winks. “I’ve heard the bathroom has good acoustics.”

Killian wraps both arms around me and rests his chin on my head. “They do, we checked them out ourselves. Well, though I don’t know if you want that kind of performance in front of your guests, things might get messy. I don’t really have self-control with this one and”—he groans—“sweetheart, you can’t just lean into me like that, I can feel your tight ass against my dick and I’m already struggling since the shower.”

Addison’s smile falls immediately.

Rob’s eyes narrow as he looks between us with disgust like shower sex is the epitome of the road to hell.

I turn in Killian’s arms and mouth “thank you,” then wrap my arms around his neck and squeeze. “I can’t help it, I like big things.”

And damn was he huge.

It’s no secret that he really is actually swelling against me or that his eyes have this crazed look that even I would believe if I didn’t know the truth.

“Wow.” Addison’s laugh is fake, flat, and loud. “Remember we do have children here.”

I look over my shoulder and meet her eyes. “Oh, that’s right.” Slowly, I turn to Rob. “We do have children here.” His lips press into a firm line of even more disgust and anger. “I’m just gonna grab my date, cool him off with some water, and… practice.”

We walk off toward the bar. I wait until we’re next to the food before letting go of Killian. “I can’t sing. I really can’t sing, like I don’t think you understand, I’m the worst.”

“Good.” He shrugs. “She deserves a bad performance, but, even if you’re the worst singer in the world, how romantic would it be if we did a certain song together and then danced? Methinks it might steal her moment a bit, which also means you won’t have to sing for long, and neither will I, and then we can go eat some shrimp cocktail.”
