When he didn’t say anything for the longest while and it sounded like his breathing had evened out in sleep I released my breath and relaxed. I should’ve known it wouldn’t be that easy.

“That doctor today, she’s the same one who took care of you before isn’t she?”

“You like her right , she’s good at her job and everything?” Oh good, he’s just being his usual overprotective self.

“So why are you trying to get her fired or worst yet, lose her license?”
I stiffened from the top of my head to the bottoms of my feet. “What?” I sounded like a croaking labra doodle. “What do you mean?”
“What did she tell you today? And before you think about lying to me again, I will make it so she couldn’t work at a flop shop in the worst ghettoes in the world.”
“Jace, go to sleep. You’ve had a very long and trying day. In fact the past few days have been no picnic for you. I’ll understand if you need a nap.” He got off the bed and pulled on his jeans.
“Where are you going?”
“To get a doctor fired…”
I jumped off the bed and ran after him and from the look on his face I knew I wasn’t fooling him at all. “Are you crazy? Why are you jumping around like that?” You see this shit? No way am I putting up with this shit for nine months. I’ll tell him when I’m in labor.
No wait, that won’t work. The horn dog would know as soon as I start showing since he sees me naked more than I do. Think Sian, think. “Why do you think that something’s wrong with me? She told me that everything was healed, she just said I was overdoing it a little and I didn’t want her to tell you that because then you’d make me crazy.” Like now!
“Are you sure that’s all she said?” Why are you going to make me lie? You know we’re not supposed to lie to each other.

Oh-ho little girl, you are not slick. If she said what I think she just did that changes things. I wasn’t even panicked which given the circumstances was huge. I needed to tell someone my suspicions though before I burst. But who? Dad!
I can’t tell any of my guys because that shit might get complicated with their girls and all. But first I have to find a way to find out if what I’m thinking is true. I know the doctor will probably give me that patient confidentiality bullshit. Unless I break into her records and shit. Track!

Funny how she’s denying that shit but the first thing out of her mouth is I’m hungry. And sap that I am, I gave in; for now. “What do you want to snack on? I’ll bring it up, you’re not leaving this room.”
“Jace, I am going down to dinner in a little while. I will not stay up here locked away like some little princess.
“You’re my fucking princess so deal with it.” I slammed out the damn room before she made me nuts. Damn girl!
I made it two feet before my knees gave out. Did she say….? I know what I heard even though she tried to correct herself there at the end. If I didn’t have to go get her something to eat, I would’ve slid down the wall.
There were fifty different emotions running through me all at once. I was scared, happy, elated, terrified mostly. Not because I didn’t think we were ready or any of the other things that you’d think a teenage boy would be thinking. But because they were people walking around breathing who meant her harm. Fuck that noise. Ante up!
Shit! that means I have to put my shit on auto-drive.
“Dad!” I jogged towards the elevator on my side of the house and headed for his. He’d left the studio when mom called to tell him about Sian so I’m sure he hadn’t headed back.
Both her mom and mine were home bodies but I think her dad had gone back to his office, and Jared was probably somewhere sniffing around Belle, so dad should be in his study alone, so I headed there.
I have to get her to the altar before her parents change their minds about letting her marry me. Not that I wouldn’t snatch her ass and run if it came to that. But I want her to have her wedding.
