I soon forgot all about Mandy and anything to do with her as we all shared our congratulations before the talk turned to the upcoming trip.

“We have to go shopping.” Valerie put in her bid again, and I realized that for the first time in almost a year, I felt like shopping myself. An argument broke out between the guys and girls about when where and who was going on this shopping trip and even that put a smile on my face.

This morning mom had walked me to the door and kissed my cheek before I left the house just like she used to before. I know I may be too old to care one way or another about the relationship between my parents but I do. I care for me and my baby brother.

I want him to grow up in the same loving environment I did before Mandy tried to destroy everything. Before dad almost left us just when we needed him most.

I folded my fists and pushed the thoughts aside. That disaster had been avoided but what about the next one? Would he be so foolish and weak again? And if he is, will my mom have to go to the same lengths as she did the last time? The night Mandy almost died.

“Why aren’t you answering your phone, what’s going on there?” This fool has already started acting up. It hasn’t even been one full day yet and already she’s been avoiding my calls.

“Nothing, my phone needed charging or something. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, every time I go to use it, it says the battery is dead. This is the first time it’s worked.”

“Yeah pull the other one.” Did she really expect me to believe that shit? And what the hell's going on at her house? Didn't her mom find my little gift, or the maid? Maybe I wasn't as thorough as I believed when I slipped it under her pillow. Damn, next time.

“Anyway have you seen Jace today what’s he doing?”

“He’s here, he and….he was driven to school and I think there’re bodyguards planted around the building inside and out.”

“You don’t think Jace thinks you had anything to do with what happened at her house do yo? That’s not why he had you expelled, is it? After last time with Stanley…"

“Shut up, shut your mouth about that.”

"Why? nobody can hear me, I walked away."

“It doesn’t matter, I told you to never mention that again. Now where the fuck is Kelly?”

She was one of them, one who thought she was better than everyone else, but at least she had more brain cells than this one. I have noticed a change in her lately though.

“I don’t know, she was here not too long ago but she disappeared.”

“You tell her to call me as soon as you see her.” I knew I should’ve screwed her dad when I had the chance. She’s the only one I don’t really have anything on.

Except for a few minor things when we were younger, she hasn’t really been getting on board with a lot of stuff lately. I noticed a really big change in her around the time that Sian girl moved here.

I had a bad feeling in my gut about what could be behind that but that wasn’t so important right now. What’s important is finding out what’s going on with Jace. Why is he acting like this all of a sudden?

After I returned home yesterday the little afterglow brought on by screwing Liz’ dad and pretending he was Jace’s hadn’t lasted as long as I would’ve liked.

On top of that dear old stepdad was nowhere to be found so I had no way of pulling myself out of the dumps. It’s no fun dealing with mom unless I can make her hate her life so I ended up staying in my room all evening.

Now, this morning it's as if the previous day's events are finally hitting home. There was a knock on the door. “I’ll call you back later, answer the damn phone.” I hung up before she could answer and went to unlock the door.

The incubator was standing there. “What do you want?”

“Why do you have your door locked?” She tried looking around me but I blocked her path.

“I repeat, what the hell do you want?”

“Why didn’t you tell me you got expelled from school? What are we supposed to do about graduation?” I can’t believe that asshole told her after I warned him.

I slammed the door in her face without an answer and went to grab my phone. I called the principal who answered on the first ring. “I told you what would happen if you told anyone about us.”

“Hello, who’s this?” What the fuck? Was that his wife, why was she answering his phone? I hurried and hung up hoping my number didn’t show up. Shit!
