The kitchen light is on, and I walk in and throw my handbag down.
A note is sitting on the counter.
Your dinner is in the fridge, hottie,

I smile and walk into the laundry, take off my scrubs, and put them straight into the washing machine.
We both do this. It’s a habit. As soon as we get home from hospital, our scrubs get washed immediately before the germs can spread throughout the house or anywhere near Owen. After ER shifts, especially. I head back to the kitchen in my robe, put the TV on, and open the fridge. Chicken satay stir fry. Yum. I smile. Cameron’s a much better cook than I am. I heat up my dinner and flick through Facebook while I eat in silence to some early morning crap television. I need this half an hour wind down time after being so busy for so long. I’m still buzzing.
Eventually, I head up to our room and find my prince sleeping soundly on his side. I walk over and gently kiss his cheek as I watch him.
His dark hair is splayed across the pillow and his chest rises and falls as he breathes. His big lips are semi parted, and his black, thick eyelashes flutter as he sleeps.
Just looking at him brings a smile to my face. His cheekiness and naughty boy personality is the light of mine and Owen’s life. I run my hand through his hair as I watch him, and after a much needed hot shower, I climb into bed behind him and snuggle against his back.
“Hey, Bloss,” he whispers sleepily as he pulls my arm around him.
I kiss his back. “Hi, babe,” I murmur as I rub my cheek on his skin. No place is more home to me than he is.
“You okay?” he murmurs softly with his eyes still closed.
“Yeah.” I kiss his back again. “It was an easy shift tonight.”
He worries about me working in emergency. On his first few shifts someone seemed to die every time and it traumatised him for life, I think.
I’m just falling asleep when the pitter patter of tiny feet walk into the room, around to Cameron’s side of the bed.
“Dad,” Owen says softly.
Without a word Cameron, pulls back the covers and Owen crawls in. Cam kisses the top of his head. “Goodnight, buddy. Go to sleep now,” he whispers sleepily.
I smile. Owen almost always goes to Cameron’s side of the bed now because he knows that Cam, the big softie, will just let him in. At least I try and take him back to his own bed. He doesn’t do it every night anymore, though—probably three nights out of seven. It’s always around this time, too, and he always goes to Cam and not me.
I lie in the darkness with my arm around Cam, listening to the sound of my two men breathing deeply as they sleep, and I say my daily thank you to the heavens.
I’m finally home.
“Close the door, baby.” I watch Owen climb into the back seat of the car. I have the morning off after working late last night, and I’m dropping him at preschool. I pull out of the drive and onto the road when a song I hate comes on the radio. I push the button to change the channel.
“Oh, play mine and Dad’s playlist,” Owen suggests excitedly.
I frown as my eyes find him in the mirror. “You have a playlist?”
“Yes, number four.”
I flick through until I get to playlist number four and hit play.
The sexy beat comes on.
“Oh, this is your song, Momma.”
I frown. “What?”
“Dad said this is your song.”
I smirk and shake my head. The song playing is Candy Shop by Fifty Cent. It was the song that I walked down the catwalk to in the Escape Club that night. How does he even remember that?
I turn the corner as my mind goes back to that night. It seems like a lifetime ago and I get a visual of Cameron uploading the song to his playlist.
I do love that man.
“Yeah, Dad said this is your song because you’re really good at sucking lollipops,” Owen continues.
My eyes bulge.
Cameron. What the fuck?
Unable to help it, I break out in a broad smile. He does call me Mistress Head on occasion, but to tell our child lollipop information is going a step too far.
I shake my head and start to giggle, then I burst out laughing. This man kills me.
The things that go on in his brain, I will never know.
We drive along and listen to the sexy words and I get an idea. I’ll take you to the candy shop, all right, Dr. Stanton…
You’ll be cotton candy in my hands.
Friday Night.
Cameron spins me around on the dance floor as he sings the words out loud.
We’re in a cocktail bar and have come here after we had a Friday night dinner date in our favorite restaurant.
