I yearned for stability and structure.

“Cameron!”

While I was ridiculously in love with a boy who was the definition of chaos…

I turned toward his voice, and there was no mistaking the absolute joy on his face. “Did you get it?”

“I got it!”

Fuck yes! I damn near fist-pumped the air. Instead, I closed the distance between us and pulled him in for a hard hug. “I’m so fucking proud, baby. You’re gonna be a sound guy.”

“I’m gonna be a sound guy!” he echoed.

Technically, he already was. He’d studied music production on and off for five years, but now he’d gotten his foot in the door of a major studio’s DC branch. The six-month, part-time internship would surely give him lots of time to network and find his next step.

“We gotta celebrate,” I said. “Pizza for lunch, enchiladas for dinner.”

“Holy fuck,” he whispered, eyes lighting up even more. “Have I told you lately that I love you?”

I grinned and rubbed our noses together. “Four times this morning when I tore you a new one.”

He let out a laugh and kissed my neck. “Good times.”

One ride on the Metro later, we were scarfing down cheesy pizza at our favorite place near GW. It was a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, catering mostly to students, and had shitty opening hours. It was why we only ever came here for lunch.

“Have you heard anything more from Lucian since the orgy debacle?” Noa asked, licking grease off the corner of his mouth.

“He texted me earlier, asking if he’d done something to offend me.”

“Good lord. Some D-types are so oblivious.”

Seriously. But said debacle was one of the reasons I wanted to make some changes in my relationship with Noa. He hadn’t been there. Orgy events were fairly common in my community, and Noa had encouraged me to join in once I’d learned Lucian had signed up. Then, once I was there…it’d felt so wrong. I didn’t wanna play without Noa anymore, and I definitely didn’t wanna chase the ghost of a past fantasy of what a relationship with Lucian might look like, because that wasn’t going to happen. Things had changed for me too.

“You remember how when we started going out, we said we’d keep the future open?” I grabbed a new slice and wiped my mouth with my napkin.

“Yeah?” Noa reached for his Pepsi.

“How’s that working out for us?”

“What do you mean?”

I chewed on a mouthful of pizza and chose my words carefully. “Considering your feelings for KC and mine for Lucian, we’ve always had a…I don’t know, like something warning us that things will change one day. That we’ll probably part ways.”

He set down his soda and chewed on his lip. “You’re not breaking up with me, are you?”

“Are you fucking crazy?” I couldn’t help but chuckle. The notion was absurd. “That’s the opposite of what I want.”

He offered me a goofy grin of relief. “Don’t scare me like that.”

“But that means we gotta think differently about the future, right?” I hedged patiently. “I want us to be a package deal.”

He cocked his head, thinking, and went back to eating his slice.

“Remember I told you about Colt and Mr. West in Mclean?” I continued. “They recently found their third. This shy kid I’ve been trying to befriend since he started coming to munches. And I kinda want something like that for us—but with a Dom. Or a Daddy Dom.” I wasn’t too picky, to be honest. I had some minor Little tendencies as well.

“I’ve been thinking about that, actually.” He sobered a little. “It’s not fair to you that you have to pretend to be some domly guy when I’m regressing.”

I felt my forehead crease. “Don’t go that far, hon. I love being there for you when you come out of that mind-set. It’s just—I’m a sub too. I miss having someone to fall back on for rules and stuff. I miss following.”

He nodded slowly. “It’s why I’ve decided to join your community.”

Whoa.

“As much as I like my own crowd, it’s too party-focused,” he said. “It’s all about events and casual arrangements. We don’t even have a specific place to meet up.”

That was true. They had a tight-knit community online, and a handful of people arranged themed parties at local nightclubs.

House Mclean was a lot different. It was invite-only, we had our own property outside Mclean, we paid a member’s fee, and we had access to demos and BDSM furniture and everything we could dream of. And fear.

Noa had taken the virtual tour on our website, and he’d been in awe of the setup. A giant, three-story black Victorian shot up from a wooded area. Huge backyard with a patio, barbecue area, pool, and hot tubs. Club area, offices, and kitchen downstairs. Playrooms with themes on the second floor, guest rooms and padded cells on the third. We paid a hefty fee for all that, but if kink was gonna play a significant role in one’s life, it was totally worth it. In my opinion anyway.
