Doom cocked his head to the side. “How you find that out?”

“I called in a favor. Hawk checked it out for me after I saw Burn, and he told me he had given Taylor ten grand to hire a fucking nanny. I knew it was bullshit. Hawk found out she used the money to put down the deposit on a penthouse.”

“How’s Hawk doing? I haven’t talked to him in a while.”

“You can ask himself tonight when you pick him up from the airport,” Wizard told him. “He put his fifteen years in with Homeland and booked a flight here.”

“He’s staying?”

Wizard grimaced. “For now, unless Viper tries to steal him away. I need to get going. Chaos is waiting for me.”

Doom knew Wizard didn’t give a fuck if he kept Chaos waiting. “You just don’t want to be here when Celeste wakes up.”

Wizard didn’t deny it. “That too. Later.”

Puck sat down in Wizard’s chair after he left. “He’s going to make Burn his enforcer.”

“Do you care?”

“No.” Puck grinned. “I just don’t want Wizard to know.”

“I’m pretty sure he knows,” Doom scoffed. “You’ve done everything you could do to get busted down in the ranks since Moon gave you the position.”

Puck shrugged. “What can I say? I’m a simple man.”

“You’re a randy fucker who prefers getting laid to being on call when Wizard needs work done.”

“That too,” Puck laughed.

Doom left Puck to grab something to eat. He headed into the small kitchen situated behind the bar, but found slim pickings when he opened the refrigerator.

“Fuck.” His growling stomach prevented him from being too picky. He closed the door to the nearly empty fridge and opened a cabinet to take out a microwavable macaroni cup, which he put in the microwave before he made himself a peanut butter sandwich. Chewing on the stale bread, he poured himself a glass of milk and took a drink, which he had to spit out in the sink.

“Fuck this.” At least one benefit of becoming the Sergeant at Arms was that he would be put in charge of supplies. While Buck made sure the brothers had enough firepower to weather the apocalypse, where it came to feeding the crew, he sucked.

Doom was rinsing his mouth out with tap water when Kat breezed into the room.

“Wow.” Kat wound her arms around his waist. “You came out of your cave while the sun is still out? I always wondered if you would melt in the sunlight. Now I know.” Rubbing her cheek against his shoulder, she dipped her hands into the back pockets of his jeans to squeeze his ass.

Still tasting the spoiled milk, Doom didn’t let the woman sidetrack him from his anger. “I thought you and Puck were supposed to go to the store last night?”

Kat lifted her cheek from his shoulder to pout up at him. “We got distracted.”

“There’s nothing to eat,” he complained.

Plastering herself against him, she ran her tongue along her bottom lip. “I got something you can eat,” she moaned suggestively into his neck.

“Cut it out, Kat. I’m serious.”

She wiggled her hips against his. “I am too.” Looking up when he remained stiff under her touch, she gave a regretful sigh and stepped away. “Okay, okay, I get the message. I’ll go this afternoon.”

“You’ll go now.”

“Fine. See if I suck your dick anytime soon.” With a sassy flip of her hair, she turned toward the doorway leading back into the bar area.

Casually reaching around her waist, he hauled her backward. “Don’t forget milk. I’m tired of going to the convenience store when you forget it. They don’t have the brand I like.” Doom released her before she managed to distract him like she had Puck. “Take my car. The keys are under the mat.”

With another pouting look, Kat left.

He moved toward the microwave and pulled out the macaroni. Staring down at the unappetizing glob, he added the cheese.

He was choking the last bite down when Celeste poked her head through the open doorway.

“I was beginning to think I was the only one awake.” Yawning, she walked further into the room, wearing an overlong baby-pink T-shirt. “Where’s Wiz?”

Doom gave her a disapproving stare. “He told you not to call him that.”

“My bad. I’ll make sure not to say it in front of him.”

“I wouldn’t,” he warned. “It’ll put him in a bad mood for the rest of the day. He was called into the warehouse.”

“Oh, did he leave me my new schedule? Did Siren have a shift tonight? If she did, I’m going back to bed—”

“About that. There’s been a change of plans.”

Celeste narrowed her eyes on him. “Those plans better not involve me not getting Siren’s schedule.”

Doom knew only one thing that would settle Celeste down when she was about to erupt in a tirade. Grasping the front of her T-shirt over her stomach, he pulled her into his arms.
