“What the hell?” May lifts up the paper in her hand, waving it at me in a fit of rage. “What’s this?”

Well, shit. “Um…” I have no quick response because I still haven’t figured out the easiest way to confess to that reality.

“Um…Um…my sister is your maid? Where the hell is she? Have you tried to seduce her too?” She shoves me with the paper in hand, pressing her fist in my chest.

I take her hands and grab them. “Now calm your ass down with that shit. I told you that you’re mine and I only want you.”

Tears stream down her face, fucking breaking my heart. “So where is she? I haven’t heard from her.”

I drop her down on the sofa and have her straddling me so she can’t run off. “You’re the one who said you couldn’t speak to her, amore. She’s just fine. In fact, she’s happy, I believe.”

“I haven’t seen her around here cleaning.”

“She no longer cleans here. I’ll have to hire more help, but I’ve been busy the past two days, as you may have noticed.”

“Did you just hire her to get to me?”

“No, actually. That, my beautiful wife, was an interesting coincidence. My underboss selected her, as it happens, and she’s currently residing at his residence.”

“He’s holding her hostage.” She tries to move past me, but I snag her around the waist and drag her back, pulling her to my chest so her ass hits my stomach as her feet dangle in the air.

“He isn’t, amore. He’s worshiping her like I am with you.”

“What?”

“I don’t believe it. She would have told me.”

“Are you calling me a liar?”

“You lied to me about everything. Let me go.”

“No. I didn’t lie to you about anything.”

“You don’t know the difference between lying by omission and straight up lying. I can’t be with you.” She rushes away and out of my office, running out the front door and right into Alessio. He quickly drops his arms, knowing I’ll lose it if he puts his hands on her.

“Take her to June.” May looks at me in shock because I’m not stopping her, but I just turn around and go to my office to pour myself a drink.

Chapter Fourteen

May

“My sweet rose, I’m back and I have a present for you,” Dario’s goon calls out cheerfully. Did she lie about her name or something? No, it’s on her file.

“Oh, yeah?” June cheers, popping into the hallway wearing nothing but a dress shirt that’s half unbuttoned. “So do I…” Her eyes land on me. “Oh shit, May,” she squeals and runs towards me, forgetting that she’s half-dressed and nearly popping out of her outfit.

We hug briefly, but I let go to scold my little sister. “June, what’s going on? Where are your clothes?” I already have a feeling what the answer’s going to be, but I still wait for my little sister to explain herself. She ducks her head and blushes.

“Oh shit. Well…um…” She tries to cover up.

The guy who brought me here comes up to June, sliding his arm around her waist, pulling her aside. “Are you going to be okay, beautiful? I need to have a talk with Dario.”

She smiles up at him with a look that answers another question for me. My sister is here of her own free will. “Of course I am.”

He cups her ass right in front of me and growls, “And don’t go running around the house like that, love. I could have had one of the men with me, and I would have had to shoot them.”

She rolls her eyes and pats his chest. “Whatever. No one wants to look at me.”

He shakes his head because she’s either naïve or just trying to placate him, neither of which he believes because my sister is beautiful. “They do, but they better not or I’ll kill them.” He drops a kiss on her forehead before leaving.

“What’s up with that?” I ask, pointing toward the door. Pressing her lips together, she moves her eyes around the room, looking for some magical answer to appear.

I grab her hand to bring her attention back to me when I feel a giant stone matching mine. Lifting it, I gasp. “You got married?”

“No, I’m engaged.”

“Engaged? I didn’t know you were dating anyone.”

She pulls her hand back. “It happened fast, and you kind of ghosted me. Speaking of, what are you doing here?”

It’s a fair point, sort of. “Ugh, I thought you were being held against your will.”

“I’m not. Wait. What’s this?” She looks right at both my rings that Dario put on my finger as if I needed an engagement and wedding ring. There was no real engagement, and the wedding was a sham.

“Something I’m going to get rid of,” I reply.

“The fuck you are, amore.” I whip my head around and see my husband staring at me, eyes dark, anger and lust just radiating off him. “June, go put some fucking clothes on before Alessio has a stroke. You know he thinks you have a thing for me.”
