She looked away from the prying gazes and instead watched Grant. Rusty was unloading the car off the truck.

“Be fucking patient. This shit takes time.”

“Grant, you don’t even work here,” Bull said. “You shouldn’t be here.”

“Aria’s tires were slashed. I’m going to check it out and when it suits you, I work here. Don’t give me that shit. We both know I’m a good mechanic.”

“You’re a good mechanic when you fucking show up,” Bull said.

She watched Grant’s jaw clench.

“I called him, Boss,” Rusty said. “Figured he’d want to know his woman’s car got targeted.”

“I need to know so I can find the person who did it,” Grant said.

Aria didn’t know if she should name Sean. What if he didn’t do it? What if it was just a bunch of kids messing around and they didn’t mean to slash her tires?

“You got any enemies?” This came from the man who often wore the VP patch. She couldn’t remember his name, but she’d seen Grant go toe to toe with him a few times.

“Not that I know.”

“For fuck’s sake, Pat, seriously, you think she has enemies?” Grant asked. “Get your head out of your ass.”

“Everyone has enemies. Some of us are aware of them, others are not.”

The only person she’d pissed off in the past few weeks was Sean. Her mere presence irritated him. Again, she didn’t know if he had it in him to slash her tires. Not after Grant hit him.

“I don’t know,” Aria said.

Grant growled. “When I find who did this, they’re going to fucking regret it.” He pulled her in for a hug, holding her close.

She wrapped her arms around his waist and she had to wonder who would think to slash her tires, other than Sean?

Thanksgiving

Grant hated wearing suits. They never felt comfortable, but Aria had told him it was a fancy restaurant. He’d left Wanda at Aria’s house with Bruno and Ernie. Aria’s car was still in the shop. Bull didn’t have the brand of tires Aria used, so they had to be ordered, and seeing as Thanksgiving was right around the corner, getting her tires had proven to be a little bit of a chore. The moment they arrived at the shop, Grant intended to fix her car. He wanted to check out the whole vehicle and make sure nothing else had been tampered with.

Grant didn’t know who’d slashed her tires. He had a feeling it could have been that prick who’d been bullying her at the gym, but he couldn’t be entirely sure. Grant had bullied people before, but he’d never gone out of his way to slash someone’s tires. Not in daylight and certainly not a woman.

He wondered if it was because of him and his connections to the club. Even though Bull had suspended him and Pat now wore his fucking patch, to some people that meant nothing.

“Thank you,” Aria said.

“For what?”

“For coming with me tonight. I don’t know if you had other plans.”

“None.” Bull had invited him to the clubhouse, as per Maddie’s request, but he’d turned it down as he’d already committed to Aria. He had no intention of letting her down. Also, he wanted to meet the woman who thought it was okay to constantly attack her own daughter for the way she looked.

The night was going to be an eventful one, especially as Aria had already warned him that her parents didn’t like the Chaos and Carnage MC at all. They would go out of town to avoid them rather than use the garage, even though it was the best one for miles.

Irritating people was his forté.

He looked forward to being his charming self tonight. He’d never embarrass Aria, but if someone spoke out of turn, then he wasn’t going to sit back and take that shit. No. Not on his watch.

“Do you normally have something to do on Thanksgiving?” Aria asked.

“The club usually has a lot of food and a lot of alcohol. They’re having the same shit again, but I’m not interested in that. With Maddie there, it’ll be scaled back a bit, possibly. I don’t know.”

“Do you miss being at the club?” she asked.

Grant tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. It would be easy to lie but even the thought of doing that to Aria didn’t sit well with him. When it came to her, he didn’t want to make anything up. What he had with Aria was real and he wasn’t going to taint that.

“Yeah, I do. Being suspended from the club hurt like a son of a bitch. I want my patch back. My brother and I, we’ve always argued. Always.” He chuckled. “It doesn’t matter what it is, we’ve always got the opposing opinion and sometimes I do shit to just wind him up. It’s fun, you know.”

Aria chuckled. “I’m not exactly sure if I know what you mean.”
