That it really might take two of them to watch over her.
“Loki’s always taken good care of me,” she said quietly.
“Not always,” Loki said darkly. “You were run off the road and I wasn’t fucking here.”
Shit. He was starting to spiral. Without thought, Remy placed his hand on the back of the other man’s neck and squeezed.
“Easy,” Remy said. “Take a deep breath. We’ll get back to that. She’s safe now. She’s sitting right here. And we’ll make sure that nothing happens to her.”
Loki took a deep breath in and let it out. Remy felt the tension ease out of him. He quickly removed his hand. He shouldn’t have done that without Loki’s permission and it could have backfired spectacularly.
But he needed to help him.
And it seemed to have worked. Maybe a small demonstration like that would help.
“You don’t have to agree to anything right now,” Remy said. Even though he was certain that was what the other man needed. He had to learn that he couldn’t control everything and everyone.
Yeah, you probably shouldn’t have claimed him without him agreeing first.
“But I think we can agree that we both want our girl.”
He put a slight emphasis on the word our.
As he’d thought, Loki started to bristle. But then his gaze must have caught the expression of hope and fear on Isa’s face and he closed his eyes for a long moment.
Remy got the feeling there was very little that Loki Wilder wouldn’t do for their girl.
“Yeah, we both want her.” Loki opened his eyes, staring right at her. “More than fucking anything in this world.”
“And she wants us. She’s been tearing herself in two, trying to keep us both happy, not to upset us. And that’s unacceptable.”
“It is,” Loki agreed. “But is this what you want, Tink? The two of us?”
Remy watched her floundering. She looked from one to the other of them, her panic clearly growing.
They both went to her at the same time.
Their girl was the sun and they were just two planets orbiting her. Drawn to her. Needing her to live.
He moved to her right side, grabbing the sandwich from her hand to put it down, while Loki went to her left.
“Breathe, Tink,” Loki said in a low voice, placing his hand on her chest, between her breasts. “Breathe in. Hold. Then out. Good. Again.”
Remy rubbed her thigh, letting Loki take the lead. He knew her best. But that didn’t mean that he wasn’t going to be here, helping guide her, anchor her.
Gradually, her breathing slowed. “S-sorry. God, I’m such a d-dork.”
“No, you don’t,” Remy said to her with a firm look. “You’re not to call yourself names. That’s a rule.”
“It’s a bad habit of hers,” Loki said. “As well as apologizing for things that aren’t her fault.”
“Noted,” Remy said. “Another rule.”
“Oh, and pushing her own needs and emotions aside to give other people what she thinks they need.”
“Rule number three. As well as wearing a jacket when it’s cold. Not going outside without shoes on. And no lying.”
“That’s a lot of rules,” she grumbled.
“There will probably be more,” Remy warned.
“Oh, yeah, she needs them.” Loki winked at her when she glared at him. “See? So naughty.”
“I’m not naughty. I’m a good girl.”
“You’ll always be a good girl,” Remy reassured her. “No matter how many rules you break or how often you’re punished. Our good girl.”
Loki reached up to cup the side of her face and she nuzzled into him. “You need Razzie?”
She shot Remy a shy look. He just gave her a calm one back. He hoped that she was starting to realize she had nothing to be ashamed of.
“Yes, please.”
Loki jumped up and came back with a rainbow bear wearing a pair of bright green pajamas and a sleep mask.
“He’s tired,” she whispered, taking him. “Such a lazy bear.”
“Okay, you feeling better now?” Remy asked.
She nodded.
“I’m going to need words now, baby.”
“First, he doesn’t want me to talk, Razzie, and now he’s given me all the words,” she grumbled to her bear. “I don’t think he knows what he wants.”
“I know I’d like to put you over my knee,” he growled.
Isa shot her gaze to Loki, tensing.
It was a small test. He hadn’t been happy at the idea of Remy spanking her before.
But Isa had asked for the spanking . . . and Loki was all about giving her what she needed.
“I dunno, maybe she needs something to occupy her sassy mouth,” Loki said.
Her mouth dropped open, her cheeks growing red. “Loki!”
Loki let out a laugh. “So outraged.”
“So rude,” she countered.
“Isabelle,” Remy said in a firm voice. “We need an honest answer from you. What do you want?”
“Without worrying about us,” Loki added. “Without thinking about what we want.”
“But how do I do that? How do I answer without worrying? I don’t want to hurt or lose either of you.”
