“That’s my job.”

“You don’t think she needs more than one person to look out for her?” Remy queried.

Loki grunted as he opened a door and they stepped into what had to be Noah’s office.

Loki crouched, setting her down on her feet. His hands went to her hips to hold her steady as she swayed dizzily.

“I’ve always taken care of her on my own,” Loki replied. “Although it seems I haven’t been able to look after her the way I need to.”

Oh crap.

She hated that. Isa blinked, trying to bring everything into focus. Darn it. She didn’t like being carried upside down.

She saw Remy staring at Loki with a serious expression on his face, his head tilted slightly to the side. Aww, that was kind of cute.

It was a thinking pose.

“Didn’t mean to imply that you can’t look after her,” Remy replied in his gruff way. “It was more that she’s such a handful, it would be near impossible for one person to manage. No matter who they are. Don’t think I’d be able to manage it alone.”

Wait. What?

What was he saying? That they should work together to look after her?

Now . . . wasn’t that just like every dirty dream she’d been having for the last week and a half?

Maybe longer, if she was being honest.

Seriously, though. When she wasn’t having nightmares about headlights and being run off the road, then she was having hot, sexy dreams about the two of them . . . in bed with her . . . touching her, tasting her.

“What are you thinking, Princess?” Remy murmured.

“Seems like it was something interesting,” Loki added.

Shit! How had she not noticed the pair of them had turned their attention on her?

She moved a finger through the air, pointing at them both. “Whatever is going on right now, it needs to stop.”

“You don’t like the two of us co-operating in order to take care of you,” Remy said with a sexy smirk on his face.

Dear Lord.

This was almost exactly the start of the dream she’d had last night. This was too much. She was way too hot, she was going to explode.

But Loki wasn’t interested in her like that. And learning that she wanted him . . . it could kill their relationship. And she couldn’t lose Loki. There was no Isa without Loki.

“I . . . I meant the two of you ganging up to bring me in here. Not cool.”

Remy was studying Loki, a look of contemplation on his face. That man saw way too much. Remy sat on the edge of Noah’s desk, making himself at home even though she was certain that he’d never have been in here before.

“We brought you in here because you’ve been naughty. Hasn’t she, Loki?” Remy said.

“What?” Loki looked slightly confused.

Shit.

He’d just had a flashback. After learning that she’d been keeping something from him. Normally, after a flashback, he’d be passed out for a while. This had to be too much.

“I think we should go home, Loki,” she said, moving up next to him and taking his hand in hers. “You’ve got to be close to crashing.”

He stared down at her for a moment, then over at Remy. Something filled his face. A knowledge. Then a steely determination.

Uh-oh.

Yeah, she was in trouble now.

Letting go of his hand, she stepped back behind a chair.

“Did you lie to me, Tink?” he said in a low, rumbly voice.

She kind of loved that voice. She didn’t know if that made her weird or not. To like the deep, stern voice that her best friend used when she was in trouble.

Most likely.

Did she care?

Not really.

“I didn’t lie to you, exactly,” she prevaricated.

“You didn’t tell him everything, though, did you?” Remy said.

Damn it. Why had they got to talking? She really didn’t think they’d ever talk.

Loki turned to Remy, studying him. “Why did you stop when she had her accident? Did you know it was her? Were you following her?”

Isa frowned. She hadn’t thought about that. But no . . . Remy couldn’t have been. It was a while before he’d come along.

“I was on my way home,” Remy said. “I’d been in Wishingbone. And I stopped because I saw a car on the side of the road and it looked like they were in trouble.”

Loki nodded. “If I have someone look into you, are they going to find anything you wouldn’t want anyone else to know?”

Oh God.

That was it. This night was going to end in disaster. She knew she never should have gotten up this morning. It had been a terrible day. Her boss had been more demanding than usual. Probably because she’d had yesterday off.

Something had to give. She’d barely had any energy or time to do the things she wanted to do.

Shawn had wanted her to stay late again tonight. But she never stayed late on Thursdays. She never missed quiz nights.
