“No, it’s not,” the Fox said. “And you need to go to bed.”
Autumn darted around to draw back the covers before the Fox placed Brody down. He gently pushed him onto his back. Autumn moved to take his shoes off. And together they pulled down his jeans.
And oh, wow, someone was feeling horny.
It felt wrong to be looking at him when he was drugged up like this. So, she quickly drew the blanket over him.
“Sweetheart, come here. Give me those titties. I want to suck.”
That was something Brody would never, in a million years, say to her. She bit down hard on her lip to stop herself from laughing. She didn’t want him to think that she was laughing at him.
Even though she totally was.
Poor Brody. He was going to be mortified if he remembered this in the morning.
Titties, indeed.
“Brody,” the Fox said firmly. “You need to go to sleep.”
“I can’t.”
“Autumn isn’t letting you suck on her breasts.”
Brody pouted. “Why not?”
“Because you’re high and not aware of what you’re saying.”
“But I always want to suck on her breasts. They’re so pretty. Don’t you think they’re pretty, Sir Foxy?”
The Fox shook his head and looked over at Autumn. She guessed she better help him.
“Tomorrow, you can play with them,” she promised. Then she realized how ridiculous that sounded. “I mean, uh, well . . .”
“Okay then. It’s a date.” Brody giggled.
Leaning forward, she plucked his glasses off his face. He looked so young and vulnerable when he wasn’t wearing his glasses. She brushed his unruly hair off his face.
“You still need a haircut.”
He sighed. “Love it when you touch me, Tutu. Papa?”
She was aware of the Fox behind her. He was being pretty quiet, which was unlike him.
“Yes?” the Fox said.
“Will you touch me too? Please?”
There was a long moment of silence and she turned to look up at the Fox. Was he still upset about what happened? She guessed he must be. She bit her lip. She still hadn’t let herself think about it too much. Because if she did . . . well, she didn’t want to lose it now. Brody needed her. And she thought the Fox did too.
But was he going to refuse Brody?
He couldn’t do that, could he?
Suddenly, the Fox moved closer and crouched down. He ran a finger down Brody’s cheek and Brody let out a small sigh of delight. She wanted to lean into the Fox, to have him touch her, soothe her. She was feeling achy, exhausted. Maybe she should have a bath. She wondered if she could convince the Fox to get in with her. He looked like he needed some decompressing.
“Go to sleep,” the Fox commanded.
“Make Tutu sleep with me.”
“She’s going to bed soon.”
“And you?” Brody asked.
The Fox didn’t reply. He just murmured something in Brody’s ear that made him smile before his soft snores filled the room.
The Fox stood and stepped back, then he held a hand out to her. She took it, and he helped her stand. There was something wrong with him.
“Are you going to spank me, Daddy?” Because she knew she deserved it. And then this feeling of guilt would dissipate.
His eyes widened. “What? No. Not right now.”
“Are you going after him?” she whispered.
“Yes.”
Of course, he was. Because he wouldn’t let this slide. But what if he got into trouble? What if that guy shot him?
“You look worried. Are you scared about what I’ll do to him?” the Fox asked.
“What? Oh, no. I hadn’t thought of that.” He’d shot Brody, so should she really care about what happened to him?
“He was going to take you from me. Nobody tries to take my girl from me.”
Even though she didn’t want the Fox to leave, she knew that he needed to find him. That he wouldn’t rest until he did.
“Do you have to go now?”
Be strong. He will come back to you. Nothing will happen to him. Have fait.
He studied her. “I have to. The trail will run cold the longer I wait. And I need to send a message to whoever sent him.”
“Okay. I understand.”
Finally, he drew her against him. “I have to do this, baby girl.”
She wrapped her arms around him. “I know, Daddy. Just don’t take too long okay? I need you. So does Brody.”
Everything would be okay. It was just that he had to be the Fox right now. He kissed the top of her head.
“But I know you need to get that jerkface. He hurt Brody. And I didn’t even have time to grab my stuffies that you won for me. I liked that bunny and puppy.”
“I’ll make sure he pays for that,” he promised. “Now get some rest while I’m gone. If you need me, call.”
“Love you, Daddy. Please come back to us. Be safe. We need you.”
“When you go down to the basement tonight, you’re sure to find a big surprise. When you go down to the basement tonight, you will not believe your eyes.” He stepped into the dark room, and glanced over at the man who was trembling in the seat he’d tied him to. There was a gag in his mouth, not that it was really needed. This place was soundproof. It was below one of the buildings he owned. There were no other buildings close by. Which was perfect. “Because every bad man who touches what’s mine is going to lose their lives.”
