Eyes locked on each other, he slowly entered her. Filling, stretching, completing. He ended the kiss and put his forehead on hers still allowing the eye contact.

In and out he stroked, making her burn hotter and hotter with each second.

There were no words passing between them. Not verbal ones anyway. And there didn’t need to be. Everything that needed to be said was being done in this intimate way.

Back and forth, he thrust not picking up speed. He kept it consistent and steady. She nearly cried when she came and when he shuddered above her, only then did he kiss her once more. The moment he freed her hands, she wrapped them around him, desperate to have him as close as she could.

They took a fast shower together, he washed her and again, his gentleness was so intense, it nearly broke her. Once dressed he walked downstairs with her, hands interlocked. At the door, he pushed her into the hardness and blocked her in.

“Call when you can and let me know you’re okay.”

She leaned into his touch, knowing it would never be enough.

“I have to go.”

“I know but I don’t want to let you.” He took a deep breath. “You won’t let me take you down there, will you?”

“No. Go back to bed.”

He skimmed his hands down her ass and pulled her tight to him. “I don’t want to go back without you.” He kissed her. “Tell me you’ll miss me.”

Her smile was sad. “I’ll miss you, Davin Bly.”

“Don’t forget me out there, Neha Kirk.”

After one more lingering kiss, she opened the door and stepped through the door. “Not a chance.” Then she headed to her car.

As she made her way down the pier, she watched those whose families had walked them down. she’d passed some a bit further up who were being dropped off so they could say their farewells there.

She kept to herself and walked to the Puerto Rico. As she was given permission to come aboard, she took a deep breath of the air. Last air here for a while. At least she had a reprieve from the shitstorm of her name showing up with the drug bust. That could change when they returned, but for the moment, it was her, the boat, and months at sea.

Neha smiled.

Months later she tipped her face up to greet the warm sun shining down on her. The men laughed and joked as they moved by her and up to start their liberty after three months at sea. None of them waited for her or asked if she wanted to join them. She didn’t care, she wasn’t there to hang out with them or be buddies. That hadn’t ever been her intention.

She cared about how they treated her on the boat. So long as they showed respect, even if it was a lie and she knew for many it was, she was okay with it.

With a deep breath she began walking again, pushing her sunglasses up. After she got away from the cry of the gulls and the yells of the men there, she pulled out her phone.

After making her usual calls to Sugar, Renny, and Cindy, she went into a small shop and claimed a seat by the window as she waited for some food that wasn’t prepared in the galley. The food was delicious and she enjoyed every single bite.

A while later, she placed another call and had to leave a message which was disappointing. She’d been hoping to speak with Davin. But hearing his voice on his message would have to suffice for the time being.

The deployment was good. They did war games with a few other nations and it didn’t hurt that they were the best submarine in the group. The CO was proud of them and promised a few nights in another port on their way home.

There was fanfare when they returned home not a lot for they didn’t give out a lot of their timeline but it was a big thing for families to be there when they returned. She stayed on board the first night back to allow those with family to spend their time together.

However, for the first time she had a pang in her chest knowing she didn’t have anyone there. No one waiting for her, wanting to wrap her in their arms and kiss her.

Sure there was Sugar, Renny, and Cindy but they were her crew. Her thoughts drifted to Davin.

It would be nice to see him standing there waiting for me among the families there.

She sighed, she’d only been able to hear him through messages they’d not spoken to one another since she left.

“Lieutenant?”

She looked over her shoulder and saw COB standing there. “Yes, COB?”

“I have something for you to look at when you have a moment.”

“Just let me put the rest of these away.” She folded up the maps that she’d been looking at. Anything navigational interested her. She touched her side and glanced her fingers over where her new tattoo was.
