“Clubbing. Are you coming with me?”

“No. It’s nearly ten at night.”

Renny’s expression said it all.

“Besides,” she continued. Deciding not to say anything else, she hooked her thumb over her shoulder. “I have company.”

Renny moved by her and stopped short in her killer heels.

“Now it all makes sense. Why you didn’t answer any of my calls. Hello again, Commander Bly.”

Neha watched him stand and walk toward them. A flare of indecision hit her as she watched him stare at her friend.

“Ms. Renny. Good to see you again.” Davin looked at her and smiled. “I’ll just start cleaning up so you two can talk.”

As he walked by her, carrying their dirty plates, he kissed her lightly. That was followed up by a pat on the ass.

Renny grinned. “I like him for you.” She held up her hands. “I’m not even going to try and guilt you into coming with me. Stay here, have lots of sex.” One sculpted eyebrow rose. “But I’m guessing that’s been happening all day with the two of you.”

Her lips twitched.

“All fucking day!”

She shook her head at Davin’s tossed comment.

“If I haven’t said it enough. I really like him for you.” A deep breath. “Now, I’m off to find and shag. You, have fun. I will catch up later and we’ll exchange details on that one there.”

She hugged Renny tight. “Be safe.”

“Always.”

Davin watched Neha and her friend as they talked and walked to the door. They shared another hug and Renny went on her way while Neha strode to him. Only taking two looks back.

“She meeting Cindy to go out together?”

She shrugged as she walked behind him to get the pizza box. “Don’t think so, she didn’t mention her.”

“You’re worried about her safety.” And honestly, so was he. It wasn’t ever the woman’s fault, they should be able to wear what they wanted however not all men saw it that way.

“Yes.”

He pulled her tight to his chest. “Want me to have Tavin keep an eye on her?”

She drew back and looked at him. “Seriously? You’d do that for me?”

He tucked some curls behind her ear. “In a second. She’s important to you. I have not a single issue with having my brother go to whatever club she’s at to make sure she’s okay.”

“Would he do it in SWAT gear?”

“Probably. Just because he’s an ass and likes to make a statement.”

“I can’t believe I’m seriously considering this as an option. No. Thank you but no. I’ll just call Cindy and Sugar quick and see if they can hit her haunts to make sure.”

“And those would be?” He rubbed small circles on her back, loving how perfectly she fit to him.

He didn’t move while she rattled off the names Renny typically frequented. When she stepped away to her phone, he pulled his and sent his brother a text. Davin was wiping up the counter when she came back in.

“All good?”

Her smile was pinched, and he knew it wasn’t all good. “Want to finish the movie?”

She shook her head and pulled her shirt off her body. “Not really.”

All his blood rushed south and he gulped. “Trying to give me a heart attack?”

“No.”

He didn’t give her any more questions, just lifted her up so their mouths lined up and kissed her as he walked them back to the bedroom. They had the rest of the night and he wasn’t about to waste any of his remaining time.

He was on the range two days later when his phone rang. “Commander Bly.”

“We need to talk.”

“I’ll be home for dinner, Tavin but I can’t talk now.”

“Make time.”

He watched the next group of sailors heading his way.

“I’ve got people arriving, make it fast.”

“They’re gunning for your woman.”

“Excuse me?” Danger vibrated along his question. “What the fuck are you talking about?”

“We had a bust earlier today and one of the guys said there were people after your woman.”

His blood ran cold.

“Reason?” He held up a finger at the man nearing him.

“He clammed up after that. All he says now is ‘lawyer’ and we can’t get anything more out of him. Keep an eye on her. I’ll fill you in at home but needed you to know.” His brother was gone and he wanted nothing more than to tip his head back and roar at the sky.

Shoving all that down, he focused on what he could deal with at the moment. That was the people on his range. Even so, he shot Neha a quick text asking to her to call him when she had a moment.

He didn’t get a reply from her by the time he left for the day. Part of him, okay most, wanted to head down to the pier and see if she was there. He didn’t.

At home, he paced impatiently while dinner cooked for Tavin to arrive. His brother did, looking a bit worse for the wear with a black eye and a cut over the other one.
