I catch the brunette’s attention after she comes out of the main house with a fresh cocktail in her hand. She stops when she sees me standing there, drinking her in like she’s everything I ever wanted.

She tosses me a playful smile in return. “You’re Adam’s brother, right?”

“He’s my brother,” I tell her, and she laughs, not picking up on the undercurrent of tension in my voice.

“I didn’t catch your name.” I let my eyes roam over her, not really taking in the details but wondering if she would feel like Bianca if I fucked her.

“It’s Ada,” she says.

Twenty minutes later, I’ve got her grinding all over me in the pool house, giving me a lap dance worthy of a porn star. I can conclusively say she doesn’t feel like Bianca, and I’m beginning to think nobody ever will. It fucking eats at me as I try to focus my bleary eyes on her tits. Ada begs me to touch her, and I question why I haven’t. That is until I hear Bianca’s voice in the doorway.

“Madden.”

My eyes collide with hers as she shuts the door behind her and stares at me like I’m the one who just cut her heart out.

Ada lets out a huff of annoyance as she glances over her shoulder, blowing hair out of her face. “Come back later, Bianca. We’re busy.”

“Get out,” Bianca snarls at her.

Ada stares at her in confusion. “What’s your deal?”

Bianca surprises both of us when she stalks toward her and snatches Ada by the hair. “I said get out!”

It all happens so fast it barely registers. Ada yanks her hair out of Bianca’s grasp, only to launch herself at her and backhand her across the face. When I try to intervene, Bianca shoves me back with an unexpected amount of rage, and I stumble into the coffee table and nearly fall on my ass.

“Bianca, stop,” I call out.

She charges at Ada, and Ada balls her hands into fists as she prepares to throw down.

“That’s enough!” My voice booms as I grab Bianca from behind, pinning her in my arms. “Get out, Ada.”

She turns her glare on me. “You want me to leave? Seriously?”

“Yes,” I growl. “Just fucking go.”

She adjusts her dress in disbelief and slams the door behind her as she leaves. Bianca continues to thrash in my arms, calling me every curse word in the book when I slap a hand over her mouth.

“Tone it down,” I tell her. “Someone’s going to fucking hear you.”

She bites my hand, then shoves me away from her.

“I don’t care,” she bellows. “Let them hear! Let them all hear what an asshole you are.”

Before I can respond, she’s picking up every object within reach and tossing it at my head like a missile. I dodge a pillow, a shoe, and then finally a lamp before I manage to lock her in my arms again, slamming her body down onto the sofa and holding her there while she continues to scream at me.

“What do you want from me?” Her voice cracks, betraying the undercurrent of pain she can no longer hide. “You want me to break your brother’s heart? Bankrupt my family? Let my dad die because we can’t afford his treatments? Is that it? Should I just light a match and say fuck it all? Is that what will make you happy?”

“Bianca.” I ease off her, and she sits up, swiping angry tears from her eyes as she watches me.

“Answer me,” she demands.

“That isn’t what I want,” I admit with a harsh breath.

“My best friend,” she chokes out. “That was my best friend, Madden, and you knew it. You’re breaking my heart. You’re breaking me.”

“Fuck, Bianca.” I’m not thinking clearly when I pull her into my arms and cradle her head against my chest. “I’m sorry. I wanted to hurt you. That’s all it was.”

“Mission accomplished.” She buries her face against me, clinging to me, and it feels so fucking right. But it’s also fucking wrong because I know she isn’t mine anymore.

“I didn’t fuck them,” I tell her. “Either of them. I haven’t been with anyone else, okay? I’m just an asshole like you said.”

She nods against me and whispers exactly what I need to hear in return. “I haven’t either. I told Adam I’m not ready because… I just can’t.”

When she looks up at me again, that fire between us sparks to life, burning stronger than ever. I’m not sure who moves first. But the next thing I know, she’s in my lap, tearing at my clothes as she kisses my face.

“Bianca—” I’m trying to find reason, the words I need to stop this, but I can’t. She feels so fucking good, and as wrong as it might be, it doesn’t feel like it.

“Please,” she begs. “I need to feel you again. I have to.”
