“Yeah right.” Dev chuckled at the absurdity. Who did this guy think he was? Church was only accessible to the brothers. Cash going inside… Never gonna happen. Off the table of possibilities. Dev held his side. He’d hurt his ribs in one of the fits he’d thrown tonight. The laughter had them stinging. “You aren’t gettin’ inside.”

“No, but you’ll get me in there,” Cash said as if Dev had magical fairy powers.

“This isn’t gonna work,” Dev said, cocking a look over his shoulder to Shanna. “How many times have you seen church in your life?”

“It was this,” she started to explain. “Or I’ll have to go undercover on the inside.”

“Fuck that,” Dev said, shooting up to his feet. Every member of that club wanted a chance at Shanna. They didn’t have the allegiance they used to have. Many of his brothers were unethical pervs. One too many drinks and they’d corner her alone, take it from her, damn the consequences. This wasn’t a fucking game.

“Is there any other curse word you’re willing to use besides fuck?” Cash asked, his anger finally getting the best of him. Dev counted it a win with many more pushes in that direction coming soon. “This is a plan in motion, Dev. Your job is to sell me as your guy. If not that, make me a friend or prospect.”

Dev burst out with a hilarious, yet painful, laugh and dramatically rolled his eyes. “You a prospect? Pfft. I have a better chance sellin’ you as my boyfriend.”

Cash only splayed his hands out in front of him as if Dev had finally caught up. That pissed him off too.

“This the best idea you got? You’re the fuckin’ feds. Are you fuckin’ serious?”

Cash’s brow dropped, the heave in his big chest increased. Dev instantly knew what caused the look.

“Fuckin’, fuck, fucker, fucked. Fuck you.”

“Shanna, then we go back to you,” Cash said, leaving the group standing there. “I’ll be your boyfriend. We can keep you safe. Dev can sit this one out.”

Dev pointed a finger at Cash’s retreating back, instantly seething. “Shanna’s not goin’ inside that goddamned club. I’ve listened to the most disgustin’ talk about my sister. Those sick bastards don’t listen to the word no. She’s not goin’ in.” He flipped around to Shanna. “Our old man boasts about your rack. You aren’t goin’ in there.”

“It’s not your decision,” Cash said dismissively, going for the refrigerator. “Have David and his team follow Dev to pack a bag. He’s out of here.”

“Fuck you all.” Dev looked between the three people, Joe actively getting smaller. “I know what you’re doin’ and it worked. And if you can create the paperwork that gives me full custody and cuts Tena out until she’s well, make that shit happen right now.” Dev twirled around, letting go of a long, exhausted yawn. “I’m hittin’ the sack. You ruinin’ my life exhausts me.”

“Hang on. I’ll go with you,” Cash said, grabbing a bottle of water and shutting the refrigerator door.

“You aren’t goin’ with me. I fuckin’ hate you,” Dev said, never slowing his roll toward the door. “I’d rather take the risk of my old man gettin’ the girls then spend another second more than I have to with you.”

When Dev started to open the front door, Cash lost his shit from the kitchen. “Dammit, Dev. David, arrest him.”

“Oh fuck you,” Dev said and tossed his hands in the air. “Come with me if you have such a hard-on. I got you. I’ll suck it. Five hundred dollars.” He went through the doorway, past the agents loitering in his hall. “I’m chargin’ you all rent for standin’ here. This is bullshit.”

“Shanna,” Cash instructed from somewhere behind him. “Can you go with him until I can get there?”

“Sure thing.”

Dev shoved his key inside his apartment door, walking through without a backward glance. He didn’t bother to shut the door. His privacy was fucked for life.

How the fuck was this ever going to be okay?

Chapter 25

“When are we gonna talk about what you revealed last night?” Shanna asked, barreling into Dev’s apartment. She used all the piss and vinegar Cash had come to expect from a Fox family member. He centered himself, anticipating this exchange, and shut the lid to his laptop, not wanting anyone to see his current viewing choices.

He raked a hand over his tired face. Tension-filled exhaustion was a bitch. In lieu of having this conversation last night, Shanna had chosen to go home for a few hours to get some rest. Hopefully, she’d gotten some.

Cash on the other hand had personally outfitted Dev’s apartment and bedroom with cameras and listening devices. Then opted to be the one who stayed in Dev’s living room for the night in hopes that the biker felt more comfortable with him being there than he would David.
