“Yes, Daddy.” She shivered, but she really did want that spanking. This was definitely one of those times when it would go a long way toward making her feel better.

Chapter Eighteen

The next hour was exhausting as Callen made them both a sandwich before helping Jordi divide up the list of everyone she’d done business with, including upcoming projects. They each placed several calls, and Jordi was beyond relieved to find out that Paul appeared to have been her mother’s only target.

As Jordi ended the last call and looked at her Daddy, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. She wasn’t alone. She’d never be alone again. She had her Daddy, and he was the bestest Daddy in the world. He could fix anything.

She jumped up from where she sat on the couch and rushed toward him, throwing herself against him almost before he had a chance to open his arms. After a tight hug, she leaned back. “I need that spanking now.”

He brushed her hair back from her forehead and nodded. “How about we get that part over with, then we can go get some cupcakes.”

She beamed. “Really?” She pushed to standing and jumped up and down. “Cupcakes! Cupcakes.”

“First a spanking,” he reminded her firmly. “And don’t think I’m replacing a nutritious dinner with cupcakes. When we get home from having dessert first, we’re still going to eat something healthy.”

“Okay.” She didn’t even argue as he removed every stitch of her clothing and took her over his lap. She felt a sense of calm seeping all the way into her soul even before he landed the first swat, and as he continued, she found herself relaxing further, letting the pain of his spanking ground her and remind her she was loved. So very loved.

When her Daddy was done, she was crying, but he took her into the bathroom, washed her face, and kissed her gently. “I’m so proud of you.”

She was pretty proud of herself too. She’d been on an emotional rollercoaster nearly all day, worrying about her business, but she felt much better now.

She knew she still needed to deal with her mother, but right now, she just wanted her Daddy.

“Let’s get you dressed so we can go to Little Cakes.” He took her hand and led her into the nursery.

She chewed on her bottom lip as he shifted hangers around, wondering what he would put on her for a trip out in public. He turned around, holding up a pair of black leggings and a pink, long-sleeved shirt.

When he spun it around to show her, she started giggling. Printed on the front of it in black letters was I can do anything you can do better.

Daddy chuckled as he opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of panties. When he held those up, Jordi giggled harder. They were covered with hammers and screwdrivers like the pacifier he’d gotten her.

He grinned. “If all the other girls have panties that reflect who they are, I want my Little girl to have some too.”

“I love them, Daddy.” She couldn’t wait to show her friends.

She started singing and dancing around the room, “I can do anything you can do better.” It made it difficult for her Daddy to get her dressed, but he finally managed.

Jordi was still singing as she followed her Daddy to the kitchen. Just as they were about to leave, her phone rang on the counter. She picked it up, and all the blood drained from her face. Her laughter was over.

She held it up for her Daddy to see the caller ID.

Callen took it from her, connected the call, and put it on speaker. “Mrs. Cross?”

“Who’s this?” her mother demanded, making Jordi flinch.

“This is Callen James, your daughter’s boyfriend.”

“Boyfriend? Ha. No one would want to date Jordi. Put her on the phone,” her mother insisted.

Jordi winced as a tear slid down her cheek. She pursed her lips and stood taller though, wiping away the tear. She would not give this mean woman any more of her power. Jordi was an amazing person. She had a great job and the most wonderful boyfriend a woman could ever ask for. She would not cry over the lack of love she got from her mother any longer. She didn’t need her. She didn’t need her approval or her love.

Callen cleared his throat. He spoke distinctly and calmly. “I have no idea what happened in your life to cause you to be so callous and cruel to your own daughter, but I won’t stand for it any longer. You will not call this number again. Not for any reason. Do not text. Do not send emails. Nothing. And if you ever interfere with her business again, I will call the police and have you arrested. Have I made myself clear?”

Jordi was grinning now. Her anger dissipated and flew out the window. She felt lighter and freer and so happy as she stared at her Daddy.
