Small heads never worried as much as the big ones did, and Charlie’s was especially good at explaining what he was feeling.

Leaning over to nuzzle against him and kiss his head, I smiled as a soft sigh and a yawn escaped my tired boy. “And I love the way your naughty side peeks out and how beautifully you react to me. Thank you for trusting me enough to start letting me see all the wonderful parts of you.”

Naughty or nice, he was adorably fascinating, and I couldn’t wait to explore all the other pieces of him that he had hidden away.

Chapter 14

Charlie

“I’m stuck between a rock and a drama queen here.” Eddie’s face filled the screen before he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest. “So you’re going to have to help me out.”

Oh no, what had Austin done?

And how was I involved?

Ignoring the way Eddie had hacked into my computer to make his dramatic entrance on my screen, I shrugged and pulled my brows together. “I have time for another job as long as it’s not big. What do they need?”

Yes, play dumb.

He glared, trying to decide if I was fucking with him or not.

It looked like he couldn’t make up his mind either way because his frustration eased down a notch and his arms relaxed. “Austin would like me to do a deeper background check on your…your something.”

Shoot.

“Do I have to tell you what something is?” What was the polite way to respond?

I wasn’t even sure I could call Daddy my boyfriend even though I could call him my Daddy or my Master. But Eddie and I weren’t talk about Daddy kind of friends. He might’ve already figured out I was a little from the stuff he’d done for the club, but Austin had promised no one would do a background check on me and I hadn’t needed to fill out an application.

Eddie finally laughed, shaking his head and not looking concerned or studying me like I was weird. “Nope. There was nothing specifically kinky in his original background check for the club, so I have no idea what else he’s discovered since then. You’re safe for now.”

Good.

Daddy had just discovered me since then.

But there was still Austin…

“Have you accepted a payment yet?” That might change things, so I was eternally grateful when he shook his head and sighed.

“No, I’ve been avoiding him, and I’m just about ready to run off to a tropical island with no electricity.” Eddie was back to glaring and grumbling, but it wasn’t aimed at me anymore. “He’s a pain in the ass when he’s got a wild hair up his butt. What do you want me to do?”

Hide?

That seemed like a very good option.

“Well, I’m not very good at enforcing boundaries.” With Austin or anyone. That was a work in progress, though. “But you are, so I would like you to tell him no.”

Eddie just laughed.

I was back to not knowing what to say, so I just waited.

Eddie had taught me a lot over the past few years, and I didn’t want to hide from him anymore when he glared at me, but some people were still confusing.

After a minute he was down to shaking his head like he didn’t know what he’d gotten himself into. “Fine. But if he shows up at my house, all bets are off.”

Did Austin even know where Eddie lived?

Did anyone know where Eddie lived?

“Then just tell him he needs to ask me since…since Ansel is mine.” Wonderful. I hadn’t called him Daddy or Master. “I don’t need to know everything about him yet. Austin is…well, he worries.”

Eddie scoffed and raised one eyebrow. “That’s what you’re going with?”

Nodding, I ignored his drama about Austin. “Should I call him and try to tell him no?”

I wasn’t sure what that would actually accomplish or if I could even do it, but when Eddie looked up at the ceiling and started talking to himself, I took that as a no. Thank goodness. “I’ll let you handle this, then.”

And I’d distract Austin with toys and crayons if he came over to talk me into doing things his way.

Oh, I had frosted animal cookies. He liked those kinds of distractions. Once we’d realized what my kind of submission was and that it had a name and rules and everything, he hadn’t gotten nervous playing with me. So it’d probably work if I tried very hard and looked very cute.

Eddie was still feeling dramatic and just reached out to hit a button, disconnecting the video call. He’d completely distracted me, and I ended up spending several hours finding the backdoor Eddie had somehow snuck into my calendar program while I grumbled about Austin being overprotective.

Then I had to spend several more hours fixing it so that every time he typed the letter R, his computer would roar.
