“It was incredible.”
“Duh.” He buried his face in my neck. “Go to Florida with me for Christmas.”
My heart nearly beat out of my chest, too many thoughts to focus on just one, spinning around in my head. “You want me to go to your parents’ house for Christmas? You want me to meet your family?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
Because I’d never had a family outside of Rush’s.
But then I thought about my dad, about him spending another holiday alone, and damned if that loneliness didn’t transfer to me. “I, um…can I talk to my dad first? I don’t want him to be alone.”
Cam nodded, but I could tell he was disappointed. He understood, obviously, but still. “He can come too. The more the merrier.”
“He won’t.” We would get him to Rush’s when we were kids, but that was about it.
We didn’t talk after that, just lay there holding each other, Cam only pulling away to turn out the light.
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Camden
So, I’m finally going to end this. ~ Letter from Henry
“It’s Saturgay, bitches!” Lincoln shouted like he was known to do.
“Why does he insist on saying that every month?” Beau asked.
“Because it gets on your nerves, Husband,” Ash replied.
“I’m kind of jealous I don’t get to say it,” Carter added.
Lincoln countered with, “Back off my shit. I’m the resident twink in this group!”
“Lord help us,” Sawyer said, and I chuckled.
“Lord help you guys. My boyfriend is normal.” There was a swell of pride in my chest at calling Jude my boyfriend, and ya know, it being real now.
“Aww, Camden hearts Jude! Isn’t that so sweet,” Linc joked, and I grabbed him, ruffling his hair because I knew he hated it.
“Shut up, Short Stuff!”
“Ugh! I hate you!” He jerked away from me. “Rush! Get him!”
“You’re on your own, Red,” Rush answered, and everyone laughed.
I wished Jude were with us. He was already at Fever working, but luckily he was getting off earlier tonight, so at least he wouldn’t be behind the bar the entire time. It was early December, and our last Saturgay before the New Year and before Rush would miss it since he would be racing. I knew Linc missed him while he was gone. It was something I’d often teased him about, but now I got it. I’d sure as shit miss Jude if he had to leave every weekend for months on end.
“Are the rest of the guys meeting us there?” Ash asked.
“Yeah,” Carter answered. “Dax had a late meeting, and then he had some stuff to take care of with Jace, which I take it to mean fucking.”
We made our way into Fever, heading straight to the bar Jude was always working behind. It was busy, a crowd of guys around it, but his eyes shot up and landed right on me.
“Holy shit. It’s like he suddenly just knew you were here,” Sawyer said, and I winked at him.
“That’s because we’re good like that, BB.”
Sawyer pretended to puke, you know, just a normal night with our crew.
“The party started. We have arrived!” Dax said as they approached.
“Do we know you?” Carter asked. “And that sounds like something I would say…or have said. Stop trying to be like me.”
“He was just showing you how ridiculous it sounds,” Jace said.
Dax looked at him. “Thanks…wait. I think. Are you saying I sounded ridiculous?”
“If the shoe fits…” I teased.
“God, I love us. I hope we never change. Dear Gay Jesus, never let our group change!” Lincoln threw his hands in the air as if praying.
Everyone began chatting after that, but my eyes found their way back to Jude. He was taking money from someone, and then a group walked away, so I headed over to take their spot. “Hey, Beautiful.”
“Hey, Boyfriend,” he replied, and I clutched my heart.
“Aww, you have a nickname for me now. I mean, it’s one you stole from me, but still. Best boyfriend ever.”
Jude laughed and shook his head, and there was more fake-vomiting, which told me Sawyer and the rest of the crew had approached.
We all ordered drinks and chatted for a little while. Linc and Rush danced and had a crowd around them—all eyes on the duo, which Linc loved and Rush loved to give him. Linc was a bit of a praise slut, always had been. Luckily, that got Rush off too.
Jude was busy and didn’t have a lot of time to talk. I couldn’t help but wonder what was on his mind. We hadn’t spoken about Christmas again, but it had only been a few days since I’d asked him. I still couldn’t believe he’d asked me to fuck him. You could have knocked me over with a feather, I’d been so surprised. And the way he’d responded… Christ, the way he’d responded was every fucking thing. He’d been sore the next day and was embarrassed, but I’d spoiled him and he’d let me. The damn man made me crazy in the best possible ways.
