“That was… I don’t have words for what that was. How did I not know how incredible that could be?”

“It’s part of the gay agenda. We keep it a secret,” I teased, then crawled up so I lay on his stomach. “It was really okay?” Looking down at him, I traced a line from his temple to his chin.

“I’ve never seen you be unsure.”

“I’m not, usually, but this was…” This was Jude. “Different.”

He blinked up at me a few times, those ice-blue eyes of his completely open to me. “Yeah…yeah I get it. And I loved it. I might want you to do it all the time. I can’t believe I’ve gone through my whole life without a finger up my ass if that’s what it does to you.”

I laughed and kissed him. Christ, I had fun with him. “I’ll finger you every damn day if you want.”

This time, he leaned up and pressed his lips to mine. I was surprised, wondering if he would shy away from my mouth because of what I just did to him, but he didn’t. We kissed as we maneuvered our way up the bed to lie with our heads on the pillows, and we kept kissing while we lay together. It was like we couldn’t get enough of touching each other, like if we parted, we’d never do this again, so we wanted to treasure it.

“God, your mouth. I used to dream about those lips.”

“Used to?”

“Aw, does Boyfriend want a compliment?”

“Shut up,” Jude said, before our lips forged together again. We kissed until my jaw hurt. When we finally managed to separate our lips, we were still tangled up together, wrapped in each other when he said, “Theo is gay—or questioning, at least.”

“I know. I figured. Did he say you could tell me?”

“I wouldn’t have if he hadn’t said I could.”

I nodded because I knew that.

“He said he’s not ready for anyone else to know, but he wanted me to tell you. He’s drawn this whole comic. He’s Awkward Boy, and we’re in it too. You’re Construction Guy. And it’s…helped. We’ve helped him. I think it shows him that it’s okay, two men together. He’s nervous.”

“That’s normal. We’ll just be there and support him. Show him how fucking incredible it can be. If he needs us, we’ll be there. That’s all we can do.”

“I…” Jude cocked his head slightly. “Who are you?”

I both knew what he meant and didn’t. He knew me, but then I figured he meant where did I come from in his life and how did we get to where we were. “Your boyfriend. I haven’t been someone’s boyfriend in a long time. I hope I don’t fuck it up.”

He laughed. “Well, I’ve never had a boyfriend before, so I hope I don’t fuck it up.”

“It’s easy, really. You just suck his dick every day. Play video games with him. Tell him how sexy he is, and…yeah, that’s about it.”

Jude laughed, and it vibrated through me, settled deep in my chest.

“So that’s what you’ll be doing with me every day too?” he asked.

“Yep.” I nuzzled his throat. “Boyfriends are the best.”

I just hoped like hell he felt the same.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Jude

Awkward Boy gets more comfortable in his skin. ~ Theo’s comic

“Watch out! You’re gonna shoot me!” Theo shouted.

“Then back up and let the expert handle this,” Cam said playfully, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at them as they went back and forth. Camden was fiercely competitive, and I was learning Theo was too. They’d been glued to the thing for who knew how long, and I hadn’t had a turn in over an hour. Strangely, I didn’t mind. It was nice listening to them in the background while I doodled on scrap pieces of paper. Ever since the day I’d seen Theo’s comic, I’d been drawing some myself. It reminded me how much I’d enjoyed it when I was younger, and it was something I hadn’t done in years.

It was good for Theo—having us, being here and spending time with us as he had for the past few days. Cam was at the condo every evening after work, and Theo was too. Yesterday, he’d sat at the kitchen table to do his homework, I think maybe just because he wanted to be around someone.

He hadn’t mentioned being gay again or even talked to Camden about it, outside of when he asked me if Cam knew. I said yes and confirmed it was okay, and he’d told me it was. We didn’t want to push him; just wanted Theo to know we were there, that we wouldn’t treat him any differently, and to let us talk to him when he was ready.

“Oh my God! Stop!” Theo said as shots rang out on the TV. Camden laughed.

“Are you sure you’re not thirteen?” I teased Cam, but really, I enjoyed that he was sometimes like a big kid.
