An hour or so later, Jude turned off the game and the TV, then sat on the bed and looked at me.

My heart dropped, tumbled and swooped, then kept free-falling in a way that was scary as hell. My chest ached and I rubbed it, trying to get the pain to go away.

Fuck, I realized I was way too wrapped up in this relationship thing. I was way too wrapped up in Jude, and maybe that was it, just the fact that it was him and it didn’t feel like it had been such a short time, because we had been leading up to this since the moment he moved to Fever Falls.

“Am I gonna like this, Beautiful?”

“I hope so.”

I reached out and cupped his cheek. “There’s always so much going on inside that head of yours. Let me in.”

Jude nodded, then turned and kissed the palm of my hand. It sent a little zing straight to my cock. You’d think he offered to blow me.

“I think I want… I think I honestly want us to be together. I know that’s not what I asked for, and I know that’s typically not your thing, but yeah, that’s it. Well, part of it…and why are you looking at me like that?”

I grinned, fucking smiled like I was in a toothpaste commercial or something. It felt like he’d stuck the sun inside me and was lighting me up. “You’re asking me to really go steady with you?”

He snickered and shook his head. “You’re ridiculous.”

“But I make you smile,” I said again.

“Yeah…you do.”

“I’ll be your boyfriend. I think we’ve been that for a long time.”

It was like the sun split, like it separated but was still so fucking bright, only now he had part of it inside him as well. “Yeah, that’s kind of how I got here. I was talking to Theo, and—”

“So I have him to thank for this?”

“Shh. I’m telling a story,” he teased.

I sat back against the headboard, arms crossed, and listened.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Jude

Awkward Boy doesn’t feel so awkward around Friendly Man and Construction Guy. They help. ~ Theo’s comic

I sure as shit hadn’t planned on starting with, I think I honestly want us to be together, but that was what had come out, and I was rolling with it. Cam shook me up, twisted up my thoughts and made me vulnerable with him in a way I’d never been with another person in my life. With anyone else I would have been cocky and made some kind of joke, but not with him. With him I was real.

“You telling me a story, or what?” he asked.

“I’m getting there. Have some patience.”

So I told him about Theo’s visit and him asking if we were together. “It was tough because I didn’t want to lie to him, but then as I thought about it, I felt the same as you. We’ve been together, Cam. Maybe not with the naked time,” I teased. “Or with exclusivity. But it felt like we’ve been together for a long time in every other way. And I…fuck, I want that.”

“Naturally.”

“You’re a cocky bastard.”

“Who—”

“Makes me laugh and smile. I know.”

“I like that I get to call you boyfriend and it’s not a joke anymore, Boyfriend.” He grabbed me and tugged me closer. “Hi, Boyfriend.”

“Hi.”

“I’m going to kiss you now, Boyfriend.”

I grinned. “Okay.”

“Thank you, Boyfriend,” he said against my mouth, and then we were kissing. He tasted of mint and smelled like soap and fresh wood. Speaking of wood, I was suddenly sporting some, my dick hard as I leaned over, kissing him.

“Fuck, you taste good. I used to look at you and wonder what your skin tastes like.” I licked down his throat, across his collarbone.

“You can taste me anytime you want.”

So I did. I worshipped him the way he’d done to me, savoring every inch of skin as I sucked and bit and nibbled at him. It was incredible, so fucking good, but I wanted more. I needed it.

My lips trailed down his chest. The lower I got, the more my hunger spiked, the more I craved him, wanted to know more of him, but the more my nerves bled in too.

When I reached Cam’s trunks, my gaze held his as I hooked my fingers in the waistband.

“You sure?” Cam asked with this cocky half-grin on his face.

“If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be doing it. You’re coddling me again.”

Cam held up his hands in mock-surrender. “I’ll be good. Promise—oh wait, I wouldn’t want you to be distracted by these. I know how hot you find these.”

The conceited fucker lowered his arms, but damned if it didn’t cause this light feeling in my chest that wiped some of the discomfort away. “I hate you.”

“You’re the one who said you’re obsessed with my hands. I’m just trying to help you out by not distracting you.”
